About This Role
In alignment with its mission to improve local market competitiveness, Acceso seeks to engage an intern to achieve a comprehensive assessment of the value chain for the preselected crops in the informal market sector in Haiti.
The Main Objectives Of The Internship Are To
- Analyze key value chains for pre-selected crops (e.g. beans, rice, peanuts, vegetables, corn meal, Maggi cubes) in Haiti’s informal market.
- Assess market actors (e.g. farmers, Madan Sara, wholesalers) — their profiles, economic conditions, services, and challenges.
- Evaluate margins and operational costs across the chain (farmgate, transport, storage, processing, sales), identifying opportunities for improved efficiency without harming the most vulnerable.
- Map informal market dynamics, including buyer behaviors, product preferences, pricing cycles, and non-cash payment solutions.
- Document pain points, especially for rural and urban Madan Sara, and propose improvements in logistics, financing, and value retention.
- Provide historical wholesale market prices (cycles 2023 and 2024, + 2022 if possible) for each season/cycle in the specified markets mentioned in introduction – please mention if purchasing or selling wholesale price data
- Provide an explanation of why a high percentage of local products (such as rice, beans and maize) remain present in the market, despite the availability of cheaper imported alternatives

Targeted sales regions informal market: Cap Haitien, Nord, Nord-Est
Main Deliverables Expected
- Maps of trade flows and value chains
- Margin breakdown by actor and crop (historical and actuals)
- Informal market segmentation and size estimates
- Pain point analysis and practical recommendations for engagement
Required Qualifications
- A license degree or Senior Student in Marketing, Business, Economics, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Having relationship with local actors in informal markets is a plus
- Minimum 1 year of experience in market research, preferably in agriculture or agribusiness is a plus
- Experience conducting market studies, with a focus on supply chain analysis, consumer insights, and competitive landscape.
- Knowledge of the Haitian agricultural sector and food products value chain is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in French and Creole.
