About The Role

The Junior Accountant will support Acceso service center team with the accurate and timely processing of invoices, managing vendor relationships, and maintaining meticulous financial records. The Junior Accountant works with the service center staff and finance team to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Processing and Data Entry

  • Maintaining and updating the vendor database, including contact information, banking details and records (W9 – W8)
  • Receiving, reviewing, and verifying incoming invoices from vendors and suppliers.
  • Matching invoices with corresponding contracts and receiving reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Accurately entering invoice data into the accounting software. Coding invoices with appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers.
  • Payment approval requests, book on the system and file
  • Monitoring accounts payable aging reports to ensure timely payments
  • Processing employee expense reports, verifying receipts, and ensuring compliance with company policies

Record-keeping and Reporting

  • Maintaining accurate and organized records of all account payable transactions, invoices, and payment documentation
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations related to accounts payable
  • Reconcile debit card / credit card statements and receipts
  • Record of pledges (with supporting documentation)
  • Supporting in preparing financial statements and reports as needed
  • Comply with legal and audit requirements and maintain sound internal controls

Net Assets Control

  • Tracking of contributions. Assisting in the classification and tracking of all donations and grants, properly identifying them as contributions with donor restrictions or without donor restrictions.
  • Release of restrictions.Work with grant manager to preparing journal entries to properly

Admin support to Service Center team

  • Support travel arrangements including: – Travel requests approval and reconciliation
  • Collaborating with other departments (e.g., Human Resources) to resolve invoice and payment issues

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience supporting accounting department with accounts payable and expenses reimbursement
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (USGAAP), accounts payable processes, and financial regulations
  • Non-profit experience desirable
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) and finance/ accounting systems, ideally NetSuite
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized

  • Language skills: Working fluency in Spanish and English. French or Haitian Creole are a plus.
