Acceso currently operates a portfolio of three social businesses in Colombia, Haiti and El Salvador and an agtech tool (Extensio) founded in Mexico. Across our agribusinesses, we have impacted nearly 35,000 smallholder farmers and farm workers, generating more than $80m in farmer income to date.

About this role:
The Deputy Agriprograms Manager will be responsible for all Acceso programmatic operations in the Haiti’s Nothern region including North & North-East department as well as providing oversight of activities, developing work plans, and reporting on delivery and progress. The Deputy Agriprograms Manager will assist the Agriprograms Manager to deliver key program impact and lead Acceso to an active farmer network of more than 30,000 in Haiti within five years.

Key Responsibilities:

Program design, execution and oversight:

  • Assist Haiti Agriprograms Manager in developing new programs, including budgets, operational
  • plans and projected output and outcome estimates;
  • Assist Haiti Agriprograms Manager in establishing and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including funders, relevant government departments, private sector companies, and business associations;
  • Assist Haiti Agriprograms Manager in recruiting project teams, lead the launch of program activities and ensure excellence in execution with sound managerial, technical, human resource and overall programmatic practices;
  • Oversee work of field technicians in the North and North-East Region;
  • Maintain project work plan and ensure timely project implementation; including satellite nurseries, inputs (seeds, seedlings, etc.) distribution according to established project plans/partner MOUs;
  • Conduct visits with field managers to expand operations, lead and motivate staff, manage farmer training and induction programs and resolve business challenges;
  • Progressively build out strong and sustainable farmer supply base;
  • Proactively identify successful strategies and tactics, or bottlenecks to effective execution of project objectives;
  • Understand, respect and promote Acceso’s mission, vision and strategy in implementation of assigned duties.

Project management, reporting, and proposals

  • Manage and monitor project budget variances to ensure spending rates are on target and realign as required;
  • Produce and share project performance metrics, including dashboards, Program Status Reports (PSRs) and impact data;
  • Assist Haiti Agriprograms Manager in drafting presentations, concept notes and full project proposals;

Program data management oversight

  • Oversee Acceso’s data systems deployment (working with Acceso’s data team) to ensure all field staff operations and farmer activities are recorded in our platform;
  • Complete analysis of key performance indicators of all areas of farmer network data and communications campaigns;
  • Analyze and update impact assumptions on quarterly basis (working with Acceso’s data team);
  • Assist Haiti Agriprograms Manager in the implementation of a monitoring and evaluation plan including farmer surveys;
  • Locate and define new data collection processes and improvement opportunities;
  • Troubleshoot problems, inaccuracies, and other issues to achieve 100% accuracy with farmer network data systems.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • A master’s or bachelor’s degree or major course work in business, agriculture or economics, or a related field with five (5) years’ experience of which three (3) must be managing agricultural development programs, preferably in Haiti
  • Strong project management and budgeting skills, and experience leading multi-year, multi-million program budgets
  • Experience engaging successfully with economic development funders and a broad understanding of the agricultural development sector in Haiti
  • Proven effective leadership skills and ability to mentor and manage groups of managers, staff and farmers
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ambition for growth
  • Has an ‘it can be done’ mind set and prepared to go the extra mile to do what it take to support Acceso’s beneficiaries
  • Good analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Passionate about poverty alleviation and improving farmer livelihoods and adopting new entrepreneurial solutions to solve poverty
  • Ability to conceive and implement new opportunities to drive impact
  • Ability and desire to travel to remote locations in Haiti and deal directly with farmer groups, intermediaries, processors and buyers
  • Advanced user of MS Office Suite applications
  • Oral and written fluency in French, Creole, and English. Spanish is a plus
