Position Overview

This position will work at the intersection of two of Africa’s biggest opportunities – education and entrepreneurship. African Leadership Academy (ALA) is a pioneer in both these areas through The Anzisha Prize – a partnership between ALA, Mastercard Foundation, and others focused on job creation through early-age entrepreneurship. Anzisha is launching two new programs, Idea and Build in 2024 which will equip more young people with tools and resources to run successful businesses and celebrate their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Idea Program

The Idea Program is a 3-month program that gives participants the opportunity to build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with evidence of sales or impact. The program is mostly asynchronous but includes opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and office hours. Each cohort is 30 participants, with 3 cohorts per year. Participants can move on to the Build Program after completion of the Idea Program.

Build Program

The Build Program is a 6-month program for participants to improve their venture’s ability to grow through better business systems and sector-focused professional network access. The Build program will be based upon 2 of the 6 Systems of Delivery courses from the Anzisha Venture Building Fellowship (Finance and Planning) as well as an additional leadership module. Program participant will develop an advanced Minimum Viable Product or Service (MVP/S) with a business model, market overview, SWOT analysis, and strategic plan. Evidence of job creation is required by the end of the program. The Build Program will be run twice a year with 20 participants in each cohort. The program is mostly asynchronous but includes opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and office hours.

Coaches are responsible for managing the Learning Management System (LMS) with support from administrators, the Head Coach, and the Director of Entrepreneurial Education Programs. The design of the program will be done by external Learning Designers, with feedback from the associate and participants to improve the quality of the program. Managing the course, grading assessments and providing feedback ensures learning outcomes and outputs are achieved. Coaches will be allocated to a full complement of programs and ventures, as well as other responsibilities, in line with experience and capacity.

Both roles involve helping young entrepreneurs develop their businesses further, overcome challenges, and navigate the entrepreneurial landscape in their industry. You will have a direct and lasting impact on the growth and success of these budding entrepreneurs and, subsequently, their ventures.
