Who we are

Babban Gona is an award-winning, high impact, financially sustainable and highly scalable social enterprise, part-owned by the farmers we serve. Babban Gona, was created to attract youth to agriculture specifically and away from the looming instability of extremist groups.
We accomplish this by franchising thousands of farmer cooperatives across Nigeria, dramatically increasing the profitability of the smallholder members 2.5 times above the national average. This dramatic increase in net income is accomplished by delivering an integrated holistic package of training, farm inputs and marketing services, on credit. Babban Gona has been able to deliver this credit while maintaining one of the highest repayment rates in the world, currently above 99%, leveraging our comprehensive 8 levels of risk mitigation.
We developed the model with our partners that include His Highness Muhammad Sanusi II, the Sarkin (Emir) Kano, Nestle, IITA, DfID, USAID, GIZ, AGRA, BMGF, Skoll, Kiva, FMCB, Mulago, GIF and Rockefeller Foundation amongst others.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support team lead with end-to-end process of organising and managing capital raising processes, preparation of marketing and due diligence materials, addressing questions from investors, organizing meetings and roadshows, as well as negotiations and fund documentation preparations.

  • Support team lead to identify potential investors and develop proper points of contact, both direct and indirect, in order to develop direct relationships for capital raising.

  • Responsible for all business administrative work related to the team such as data entry, data maintenance, and data quality

  • Assist team leads in creating and preparing financial reports, conducting research, and analysis as well as tracking all actions.

  • Identify, research and resolve issues involving data processing errors

  • Perform market research, data mining, business intelligence, and analysis

  • Participate in investment, valuation and risk management processes.

  • Prepare investor proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals

  • Maintaining internal models of the company, such as the forecasts and 3-statement projections

  • Focus on deal monitoring and reporting – performance reporting for annual and interim reports to meet investor deadlines

  • Participate in organizing investor due diligence, subscription, and closing.

  • Develop and manage communication protocols for all boarded investors, including distribution of periodic performance updates and financial information.

  • Preparation of due diligence responses, meeting agendas, etc.

  • Produce deliverables for communication with existing and prospective investors;

  • Maintain and update information on existing investors, including contact information, investor activity, and portfolio construction planning, and communicate this information internally;

  • Develop a thorough understanding of investors’ investments and activity in order to competently represent the firm and report to investors;

  • Manage third-party vendors such as legal counsel and marketing consultants;

  • Prepare certain levels of investor communication such as transaction announcements (new deals, add-ons, exits);

  • Work with senior leadership and external consultants to optimize and maintain Babban Gona brand.


Requirements

Experience in Investor Relations Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other relevant field. The equivalent of the same in practical experience is also acceptable. The candidate will also be better suited with ICAN, CFA or ACCA certification.

  • Business development, sales, and negotiation experience

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in financial analysis and modelling

  • 1 - 3 years of related experience in a Investor Relations role within a fast-moving and dynamic business environment

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data to derive business insights

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize deliverables, and manage and meet tight deadlines

  • Service-oriented and pro-active, with good interpersonal skills and a passion for developing strong relationships with existing clients and prospects

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills (including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)

  • Strong financial modelling skills; outstanding analytical and presentation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving skills

  • Ability to provide support to; and collaborate with internal units and external groups to achieve business objectives
