Breakthrough is looking for a Manager – Curriculum Developer who will be a part of the Programme Team. The person will report to the Senior Manager. He/she/they must be creative and enjoy working within an environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and community-oriented. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and will possess strong written and verbal communication and organisational skills.
The specific job responsibilities are mentioned below:
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptualise, design, and deliver curriculum, toolkits, and capacity-building experiences (Hindi & English) using feminist, intersectional, and rights-based pedagogy;
- Integrate norms mapping, social diffusion, systems thinking, and behaviour/norm change frameworks into all curriculum products;
- Establish and maintain strong feedback loops with field teams, adolescents, young people, and stakeholders; translate insights into curriculum revisions and program decisions;
- Pilot, test, refine, and standardise products to ensure usability and contextual relevance across geographies;
- Maintain, update, and disseminate curriculum and digital/physical learning products internally and externally;
- Develop interactive learning tools (games, modules, videos, webinars) to strengthen engagement and learning outcomes;
- Provide technical guidance on SMC and GPDP processes, integrating governance-linked insights into curriculum and program design;
- Mentor team members on curriculum design and facilitation, fostering reflective practice and rigour;
- Prepare quarterly work plans, track progress, and ensure timely production and delivery of outputs;
- Analyse curriculum usage and impact; produce documentation, learning notes, and reports for internal use and external stakeholders;
- Disseminate content, publications, and evidence within Breakthrough networks and partners;
- Contributes to a strong and respectful team culture grounded in feminist principles of co-creation and co-leadership. Must have a willingness to learn and unlearn.
Key functions:
- Design, test, and deliver innovative learning products at depth and at scale.
- Spend significant time in the field to ground curriculum in lived realities and establish standardised processes. Build capacity by creating, mentoring, and supporting facilitators and curriculum developers.
Skills, Competencies & Experience Required:
- Post-graduate degree in Education, Psychology, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields (preferred);
- 7–10 years of experience in gender, community systems, norm/behaviour change, youth engagement, or capacity building;
- Strong understanding of gender norms, intersectionality, norm change frameworks, behaviour change, and systems thinking;
- Demonstrated ability to integrate ground-level insights from adolescents, youth, and implementers into content and programme design;
- Expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and pedagogical frameworks (including Bloom’s Taxonomy);
- Ability to translate complex theoretical ideas into accessible, engaging content for diverse learners;
- Familiarity with SMC structures, GPDP processes, and local governance, and ability to connect community realities with systemic levers;
- Skilled facilitator able to hold conversations on power, caste, gender identity, privilege, and structural inequity;
- Strong writing skills in Hindi and English; ability to create publications and learning resources;
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; openness to digital learning tools;
- Highly organised, dependable under tight timelines, collaborative, and reflective;
- Commitment to feminist values, inclusion, and Breakthrough’s mission;
- The profile requires extensive travel to (but not limited to) Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Haryana and Delhi- NCR.
