Job purpose
Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) is an international non-governmental organization that specializes in the design and construction of pedestrian footbridges. We are seeking a motivated, dynamic and highly capable Corporate Site Liaison to support our Corporate Partner Program.

As the Rwanda Corporate Site Liaison, you will be responsible for coordinating all ground logistics for visiting teams of international volunteers. You will act as the main contact between B2P, the local communities and the incoming corporate teams. The ideal candidate would be a young professional with an interest in international development who thrives in a team environment.

Duties and responsibilities

Prior to team arrival:

  • Support the B2P Corporate Logistics Coordinator to prepare the arrival of the Corporate Team including accommodation, meals, vehicle hire and site preparation
  • Find accommodation in rural communities near bridge sites to house the B2P team and international volunteers
  • Prepare housing documents to support the team with logistics preparations
  • Present Rwanda Culture Calls to educate volunteers on Rwandan culture and customs
  • Respond to requests for information prior to the team’s arrival via email and online video calls
  • Provide hotel, tourism and logistical information

Whilst hosting international volunteers:

  • Ensure the welfare, safety and wellbeing of the international volunteers, community and B2P team during their bridge build in Rwanda
  • Prepare menus, carry out food shopping and co-ordinate four meals a day for up to 20 people
  • Understand each bridge site community and articulate cultural customs, language and cultural differences to the international team
  • Accompany the team throughout their time in country, assisting them to organize off-site logistics or resolve any problems which may arise
  • Act as a liaison between other B2P employees, the local community and the incoming corporate team
  • Support the team as a translator between Kinyarwanda and English
  • Host bridge opening inaugurations
  • Collect and take photographs of the bridge construction process
  • Complete impact reports following team departure
  • Manage up to two Accommodation Attendants whilst on site
  • Promote B2P’s culture of safety and quality both on and off the bridge site

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hospitality or tourism
  • Professional and detail-oriented communication and organizational skills
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Creative, energetic and self-motivated, with a proven track record of taking initiative and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage cross-cultural group dynamics
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Email and Zoom or other video conferencing software
  • Fluent written and spoken English, Kinyarwanda, and French are desirable
  • Articulate with good public speaking skills
  • Passion for B2P’s mission and international non-profit work

Working conditions

The position is based in Kigali, Rwanda, with frequent travel with extended stays in rural areas. Expect to be living away for 2 weeks at a time in basic accommodation in rural communities.

Physical requirements

Frequent trips to very remote environments require significant physical exertion to reach. Up to 3 hours hiking required daily.
