About the Role:
The Procurement and Logistics Director at Burn Manufacturing will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of procurement, and logistics operations in the various countries of operation.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, strategic vision, and a proven track record of optimizing procurement processes and managing complex supply chains.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with Burn Manufacturing's business objectives in Kenya. Identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate contracts with local suppliers, and ensure timely procurement of materials and components.
  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with local suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of the supply chain. Evaluate supplier performance, conduct regular supplier audits, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory planning and management at the Ruiru facility to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts. Implement inventory control measures and utilize inventory management systems to track and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Logistics Optimization: Coordinate transportation and distribution activities within Kenya to ensure timely delivery of products to customers. Optimize transportation routes, manage warehousing facilities, and collaborate with local logistics providers to streamline logistics operations.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices in Kenya. Develop risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions, address quality issues, and ensure business continuity.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and improve procurement and logistics processes at the Ruiru facility to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance. Identify opportunities for automation, digitalization, and process optimization.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for procurement and logistics activities at the Ruiru location. Monitor expenses, control costs, and optimize resource allocation to achieve financial objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the procurement and logistics team in Ruiru. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Develop talent within the team and provide opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analytics tools to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), identify trends, and generate insights for decision-making. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management to communicate procurement and logistics performance metrics.

Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 12 years of proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, and logistics roles, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management principles, and logistics operations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive process improvements, and achieve measurable results.
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM) is a plus.
