Chancen International is a non-profit financial institution providing ethical, fair, and responsible financing to help young Africans access quality tertiary education. Using an innovative Income Share Agreement (ISA) model, we cover students' tuition fees, allowing them to study without financial barriers. Job Summary
The Ghana Country Manager will lead the operational setup and local execution of Chancen’s strategy in Ghana, following a successful pilot phase. This individual will be Chancen’s first and only staff member in Ghana, with potential additional hires in 2025. They will be responsible for business development in Ghana and managing the partnership with our B2B implementation partner. Priority would be laying the groundwork for operations scale, maintaining local regulatory and legal compliance, exploring local funding opportunities, growing, leading new partnerships with tertiary education institutions and coordinating with the global and regional teams to ensure alignment with Chancen’s goals.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development:
● Play a pivotal role in steering CHANCEN International's growth and expansion in Ghana, employing strategic acumen to shape the company's future trajectory in the country.
● Forge and nurture alliances and partnerships to expand the customer base, enhance market reach, and strategically monitor competitors. Develop strong political and business networks to reinforce the organisation's position.
● Collaborate with leadership teams to meticulously analyse the business landscape. Drive the innovation as per context and the refinement of existing services, underpinning robust growth strategies and market expansion plans.
Operational Setup and Management
● Manage Chancen’s existing legal entities and partnerships in Ghana, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements.Lead the establishment of Chancen’s legal and operational presence in Ghana, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements.
● Manage logistics, vendor relationships, and administrative functions during the setup phase.
● Serve as Chancen’s official in-country representative and point of coordination.
Program Coordination & Implementation Oversight
● Act as the primary liaison between Chancen and the Ghana-based B2B Implementation Partner responsible for ISA model delivery
● Monitor partner performance and adherence to agreed standards, timelines, and targets
● Support the development and refinement of implementation frameworks to ensure alignment with Chancen’s objectives and values.
Planning and Execution
● Develop medium-term plans to support the growth and effectiveness of Chancen’s activities in Ghana.
● Track milestones and outputs to inform strategic decision-making around potential expansion or staffing from 2025 onwards.
● Support preparation of internal reports, updates, and reviews related to Ghana operations.
Stakeholder Engagement and Fundraising
● Cultivate and maintain relationships with local partners, regulators, service providers, and educational institutions.
● Represent Chancen at relevant industry or sector events to promote awareness and credibility.
● Provide market insights and partnership opportunities to the global team.
● Support local fundraising activities in Ghana, identifying opportunities and generating warm leads for potential ISA financing.
Compliance and Risk Management
● Ensure Chancen’s activities and third-party engagements are compliant with local regulations.
● Monitor operational risks and escalate issues in a timely manner to the global team.
● Oversee contractual and reporting arrangements with local partners.
Requirements
● 6-7 years of experience in operations, project implementation, or partnership management, ideally in education, youth employment, or impact sectors.
● Diploma in Business Administration, Management or a relevant field.
● Proven ability to oversee external partners or vendors in delivering programmatic outcomes.
● Strong organizational and communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
● Comfortable operating independently in a startup or early-stage environment.
● Familiarity with the Ghanaian regulatory and institutional landscape.
Work Environment
● Based in Ghana with remote collaboration across global and regional CHANCEN teams.
● Independent role requiring strong self-management, decision-making, and initiative.
● Limited travel within Ghana may be necessary.
