Job Summary

The Repayment Associate is responsible for ensuring the timely repayment of education financing under the ISA model. This role involves maintaining strong relationships with graduates, monitoring repayment contributions, and implementing early-stage recovery measures. The Associate will also be involved in tracking employment data, engaging in repayment recovery activities, and supporting students throughout their journey with Chancen International.

Key Responsibilities

Repayment Monitoring & Collection

  • Track and follow up on due and overdue ISA repayments to ensure compliance.

  • Conduct daily monitoring of repayment contributions and service fees.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of graduates’ employment status and financial obligations.

  • Contact graduates via phone, email, SMS and physical visits where relevant and other means that may be identified. to remind them of upcoming and missed payments.

  • Ensure members who miss payments are contacted immediately after a due date is passed.

  • Advise members on repayment structures and financial commitments as per the ISA agreement.

  • Maintain a healthy Portfolio at Risk (PAR) rate for assigned members

Engagement with Graduates & Guardians

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with graduates and their guardians for better repayment follow-ups.

  • Participate in guardian meetings and workshops to provide financial literacy and guidance.

  • Meet directly with students and guardians in their local communities to discuss repayment issues.

  • Work closely with local leaders to obtain information on defaults and assist in debt recovery.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate databases of all repayment records, member employment details, and collection activities.

  • Analyze and report default trends, providing proactive recommendations for better recovery rates.

  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on portfolio performance and repayment success.

  • Utilize predictive data analysis strategies to identify members at risk of defaulting and implement preventive measures.

Compliance & Recovery

  • Ensure all debt collection activities adhere to Chancen International policies and regulations.

  • Participate in recovery committees, proposing appropriate action plans for members in default.

  • Represent the organization in court proceedings related to debt collection, if necessary.

  • Ensure seamless transition of active students into the repayment phase.

  • Support in contract signing processes between Chancen, applicants, and their guardians.


Requirements

Educational Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration,, or a related field.

Technical Skills, Competencies & Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in collections, repayments, financial services, or customer relations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formula usage for tracking repayments.

  • Experience with CRM systems and data analysis tools is a plus.

  • Strong skills in reporting, public speaking, and conducting presentations for large audiences.

  • Sharp communication skills, with the ability to engage different audiences effectively in English and Kinyarwanda
