Job Purpose

Repayments Intern supports the Repayments team in portfolio tracking, member engagement, documentation, and compliance processes under the ISA model. The role is designed to build foundational skills in collections, financial advisory, and portfolio management, with a structured pathway to a Repayments Associate role based on demonstrated performance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Portfolio Support

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate member trackers and Customer Relationship Management updates.

  • Support data entry for payments, employment status, and engagement logs.

  • Monitor basic portfolio metrics and flag inconsistencies.

2. Member Engagement Support

  • Conduct follow-ups via calls, SMS, and email as per operational guidance provided.

  • Send repayment reminders and confirm receipt of payments.

  • Escalate complex or sensitive cases to the Associate.

3. ISA Advisory Support

  • Assist in preparing for ISA advisory sessions.

  • Attend sessions and document outcomes in Customer Relationship Management.

  • Support employment verification checks and documentation.

4. Reporting Support

  • Support in preparing weekly and monthly reports.

  • Track basic KPIs such as follow-up rates and contact success rates.

  • Support data clean-up and validation exercises.

5. Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure all interactions are properly logged in Customer Relationship Management within 24 hours.

  • Maintain organized digital records of member engagements.

  • Support adherence to documentation standards (no verbal agreements).

6. Learning & Development Focus

  • Understanding the Income Share Agreement (ISA) model

  • Exposure to collections lifecycle and portfolio management

  • Development of communication and negotiation skills

  • Data accuracy and reporting discipline

  • Compliance and regulatory awareness

7. Performance & Progression Criteria (to Associate Role)

  • ≥ 90% task accuracy (Customer Relationship Management and tracking)

  • Strong communication and professionalism in member interactions

  • Demonstrated ownership and reliability

  • Ability to independently manage a small portfolio (pilot phase)

  • Consistent adherence to documentation and compliance standards


Requirements

8. Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field

  • 0–12 months experience (internships or entry-level roles acceptable).

  • Effective communication skills in both English and Swahili

  • Good public speaking skills.

Career Pathway

This role provides a structured growth pathway into a Repayments Associate position within 3–6 months, subject to performance, business needs, and demonstrated capability.
