About DMI

Development Media International (DMI) runs media campaigns to change behaviour, promote health and save lives in developing countries. We are the first organisation to have scientifically demonstrated that mass media can encourage life-saving behaviours (see the results of our randomised controlled trial proving that our interventions can save the lives of thousands of children, here ).

DMI has two priorities: first, to continue conducting innovative research; second, to deploy our proven strategies on a large scale in order to save as many lives as possible. We work on a range of health issues, including child survival, reproductive health, nutrition, hygiene and early childhood development. DMI works closely with leading experts in the field of health, including the WHO, UNICEF and LSHTM, and is funded by some of the world's most prestigious organisations, including Wellcome, DFID, Comic Relief, the Global Innovation Fund, Unorthodox Philanthropy and the Mulago Foundation.

We are an innovative and rapidly growing organisation working at the intersection of science and creativity. DMI has demonstrated that knowledge is not only a human right, but also the key to saving lives in a cost-effective way. Our intellectual rigour, enthusiasm and willingness to learn from both our successes and our mistakes set us apart. Our philosophy is non-hierarchical: all our employees are highly intellectually capable and we have a culture where 'the best idea wins'. Working at DMI, you will have a real and measurable impact on improving living conditions in low-income countries.

DMI has a permanent presence in Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, and is currently running or has recently run projects in Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Mauritania and Ghana. DMI's head office overlooks the Regents Canal, near Kings Cross in London, and provides oversight and strategic direction for the organisation.

DMI is ranked among the world's most cost-effective non-profit organisations by The Life You Can Save .
