Job Title: | Product Manager – Experimentation |
Location: | Bangalore |
Department: | Product |
Experience: | 6+ years |
Digital Green is a pioneer global not for profit organization, utilizing digital platforms and community-driven approaches to amplify the voices of smallholder farmers and improve their livelihoods. Our mission is to create a world where farmers use technology and data to build prosperous communities. By harnessing the power of technology, we facilitate knowledge sharing, capacity building, and market linkages, enabling farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices and increase their productivity and income.
We are dedicated to transforming the lives of under-served smallholder farmers worldwide through innovative technology solutions. Backed by leading philanthropic organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Walmart Foundation, USAID, and UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (UKFCDO), we are committed to leveraging data and technology to empower smallholder farmers and strengthen agricultural extension systems.
We are hiring a Product Manager– Experimentation to design, run, and analyze the A/B and multivariate tests that help FarmerChat improve trust, onboarding, and engagement for smallholder farmers. This is a quantitative, hands-on role that owns the experimentation pipeline end-to-end — from hypothesis to design to analysis — bridging the gap between data and human behavior. You will work closely with User Research, Data Insights, MEL, Product, and country teams to build the evidence base for how AI-enabled advisory can work better for smallholder farmers, especially in low-connectivity, low-literacy, and emerging-market contexts where standard experimentation assumptions often break down.
- Experiment Design and Execution
- Identify high-value opportunities for experiments that improve onboarding, comprehension, trust, early activation, and continued engagement
- Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests, multivariate tests, and other structured product experiments where appropriate
- Develop strong hypotheses, define outcome measures, guardrail metrics, and minimum detectable effects
- Own experimentation implementation using our platforms, in partnership with product and engineering
- Statistical Analysis and Interpretation
- Analyze results with statistical rigor and appropriate methods — significance, effect sizes, confidence intervals, etc.
- Support the interpretation of interaction effects, e.g., user behavior across segments such as gender, geography, crop, language, digital confidence, and connectivity context
- Translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for research, design, product, and country teams
- Standards and Infrastructure
- Establish lightweight experimentation standards, templates, and decision frameworks that can be used across teams and markets
- Maintain clear documentation and a log of experiments run, results, and decisions made
- Establish guardrails to protect user trust and product integrity while designing and executing tests, particularly for vulnerable users
- Research-to-Product Translation
- Partner with user research to connect quantitative results with qualitative evidence, helping triangulate the what and why
- Translate results into clear, decision-ready recommendations for Product and country teams
- Help build a culture of evidence-based iteration and thoughtful product learning within FarmerChat
- 6+ years of relevant experience in digital experimentation, growth analytics, or data science/applied statistics
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred with 4+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience
- Strong grounding in experimental design, including hypothesis development, measurement planning, interpretation of effect sizes, and decision-making criteria
- Experience running A/B or multivariate tests in mobile or web environments (e.g., Firebase, Mixpanel, Optimizely, or similar platforms)
- Ability to synthesize findings and communicate them clearly to technical and non-technical teams
- Comfortable collaborating across product, analytics, and country teams
- Commitment to inclusive design and interest in understanding how different user groups experience digital products
Nice to Have
- Experience designing experiments in emerging-market or low-connectivity contexts, where data can be noisy or incomplete
- Familiarity with experimentation or feature-testing platforms and best practices for guardrail metrics and experimentation governance
- Experience building experimentation standards or infrastructure for a team or organization
- Experience applying an equity or inclusion lens to A/B testing and product iteration
- Experiments to test how tone, phrasing, starter prompts, or guided examples affect trust and first-question completion
- An understanding of how profile-collection flows influence trust, relevance, and early engagement
- A sample size and power analysis framework calibrated to FarmerChat's actual traffic and market conditions
- A comparison and integration of appropriate A/B testing platform(s) needed for different funnel stages
- Own the experimentation pipeline end-to-end for a product used by smallholder farmers across low-connectivity, low-literacy, emerging markets
- Work cross-functionally with User Research, Data Insights, MEL, Product, and country teams to shape how AI-enabled advisory serves real farmers
- Help build a culture of evidence-based iteration and experimentation infrastructure from the ground up
- Join a mission-driven organization backed by BMGF, Walmart Foundation, USAID, and UKFCDO
