Started in 1999, Dream a Dream is a registered, charitable trust empowering young people from vulnerable backgrounds to overcome adversity and flourish in a fast-changing world using a creative Life skills approach. Currently, Dream a Dream runs an Innovation Lab engaging 10,000 young people every year referred from 40 partners, has trained over 6,728 teachers/educators from 191 partners impacting over 1,68,200 children and young people, engaging over 800,000 young people through state government partnerships and have scaled our work across India and Kenya through our unique Life Skills Development model.

Dream a Dream is a pioneer in the Life Skills space in India and recently recognized by Lego Foundation and Ashoka as a Champion in the space of Re-Imagining learning. At Dream a Dream, we believe it is critical to empower young people with Life Skills to overcome these gaps in the education system. Dream a Dream has scaled its Life Skills Model to provide teachers and youth workers, the skills, and tools necessary to develop Life skills in young people from vulnerable backgrounds and integrate this within their work domain.

Position overview and summary:

Dream a Dream is working with different state governments to embed life skills and social emotional learning (SEL) in their respective education systems. We work with the government systems to create training frameworks, facilitate sessions, contextualise, and create SEL curriculum.

We are looking for a passionate individual who has a strong experience in implementing and designing Life skills and SEL programmes and sessions. The individual will work on training and facilitating workshops on Life skills and SEL as well as design content.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a Lead Facilitator your primary responsibility will be to work with young people, adults, teachers, and the government system. You will play a vital role in facilitating trainings, workshops, and camps for young people to empower and inspire.
  • To design spaces for the leadership teams to be able to redefine their purpose towards education.

Facilitating collaborations

  • Execute aspects of Dream a Dream’s strategy as it pertains to its partnership with the Government of Telangana.
  • Create designs for the workshops and contextualise sessions on social-emotional learning for all stakeholders within the education systems
  • Deliver workshops and sessions for relevant stakeholders through online and offline media.
  • Participate in learning and debrief sessions, to enhance the quality of delivery of the Dream a Dream’s workshops
  • Understand impact assessment of the workshops and improve the quality of training
  • Coordinate with the internal teams to create different types of SEL and Life skills content.
  • Conduct regular field visits. Interact with teachers and other stakeholders to assess and understand how training is translated into execution of various curriculums.

Facilitation (Facilitate, Design and Trainings)

  • Improvise contents of the workshop in the moment and be aware of the plan / curriculum being only a guiding document
  • Ability to design activities and workshops (using the Facilitation Principles. )
  • Develop curriculums for young people to meet the needs of the context.
  • Train other facilitators / stakeholders on the Principles / Practices / Processes of facilitation with a minimum of 10-day TOT workshop.
  • Provide one-on-one mentoring on principles of facilitations.
  • Technical skills required for the role.
  • Hold space for the group and individuals to express themselves deeply.
  • Invite individual and group creativity.
  • Managing Strong Emotions in a group (Manage Triggers)
  • Develop the culture of appreciation.
  • Prior engagement with young people, teachers and experience in education with strong training-facilitation skills in Education space is highly recommended.
  • Ability to travel to different parts of Telangana and India at a short notice

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Strong alignment with the organisation’s values of equity, dignity, and inclusion
  • Proven experience in advocacy, partnerships, and networking
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of the education sector and related policy issues
  • Exceptional collaboration, reflection, and communication skills, particularly in managing complex communication.
  • Strong facilitation and movement-building abilities
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural and global digital environment, with a demonstrated sensitivity to different cultures.
  • Strong understanding of systems thinking and the ability to apply it in practice.
  • Fluent in Telugu and English. Fluent in Hindi is an additional advantage.

Note: Being a small team, you would also be required to multi task between roles as and when required by the organization for the furtherance of its goal.
