Who We Are!

🌍 Africa has the world’s youngest and fastest-growing population. By 2035, the continent is poised to contribute more young people to the global workforce each year than the rest of the world combined.

At Educate! we're obsessed with impact. We leverage iterative learning to build highly scalable youth employment solutions aimed at unlocking the potential of the world’s youngest continent.

Educate! prepares youth in Africa to learn, earn and thrive in today’s economy by:

  1. Introducing an employment-focused school subject into secondary and
  2. Delivering livelihood boot camps for out-of-school youth, with a focus on marginalized rural girls and young women.

To date, more than 500,000 youth have been meaningfully impacted across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and along the way, Educate! has become the largest youth employment and skills provider in East Africa.

Educate! is a team of over 300 largely African staff and 300 volunteer youth mentors. We prioritize building an engaging, fulfilling and growth oriented work environment. 50% of our top 30 leaders have been with us for over 5 years, 10+ alumni have started their own organizations, and 6 current or former team members were Acumen Fund East Africa fellows.

We have been backed by top foundations such as Imaginable Futures, Livelihood Impact Fund, Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall, CIFF and Echidna Giving. Educate! won a 2018 Klaus J. Jacobs Prize and a 2015 WISE Award, and has been highlighted by the World Bank’s S4YE's Impact Portfolio, an Al Jazeera documentary, BBC, The Brookings Institution as one of 14 case studies on scaling education, and the Gates Foundation as a Goalkeepers Accelerator. In 2022, we received a catalytic investment from philanthropist Mackenzie Scott to scale our systems change work.

Educate!'s long-term vision is to design solutions that measurably impact millions of youth across Africa each year.

Position Overview

As Educate! Tanzania scales to over 1,000 schools across Cohort 2, the Program Coordinator is the operational engine of the hub program team. The role exists to take ownership of the coordination, events, data, and administrative workload that would otherwise sit with the Hub Program Manager — freeing the PM to focus on managing and developing the Program Officer team and on program strategic planning.

The Program Coordinator is a hands-on coordinator and organizer, not a people manager. Program Officers report directly to the Hub Program Manager; the PC works alongside POs as a peer-level support function, ensuring that trainings, events, stakeholder engagements, data flows, and financial processes run smoothly, on time, and to standard. Where the Hub PM operates at the level of strategy, team performance, and stakeholder relationships, the PC operates at the level of execution: calendars, logistics, reports, documentation, and follow-through.

This role is well-suited to highly organized candidates with strong program delivery experience who excel at coordination, data, and operational detail.

What You’ll Do🌟

Program Events & Training Coordination

The PC is the hub's lead coordinator for all program events, owning logistics end-to-end.

  • Plan and coordinate all logistics for Student Leadership Program (SLP) sessions across the hub: venues, scheduling, materials, participant communication, and government stakeholder invitations — ensuring no scheduling conflicts across districts.
  • Coordinate District Teacher Training (DTT) logistics: preparation, venues, materials, facilitator readiness checks, and post-event follow-up.
  • Coordinate pre-term training events, including Training of Trainers (TOT) and Network Trainer training logistics at hub and district level.
  • Support the organization of district-level student business competitions, including logistics, judging coordination, and documentation.
  • Coordinate high-level LGA school visits each term: planning, invitations, logistics, media coverage, and documentation, in line with the program's visibility and accountability strategy.
  • Coordinate hub team events, all-hands sessions, reflection sessions, and termly planning meetings on behalf of the Hub PM.

Implementation Calendar & Operational Coordination

The PC owns the hub implementation calendar and the operational systems that keep execution on track.

  • Build and maintain the hub-wide implementation calendar, consolidating SLP schedules, LGA and District Task Force meeting dates, DTT cycles, and BM field visit cycles across all districts.
  • Coordinate scheduling across Program Officers' district plans to prevent overlaps and resource conflicts, flagging clashes to the Hub PM for resolution.
  • Manage procurement requests, materials distribution, and supply tracking for program activities across the hub.
  • Support the development and maintenance of tools, systems, templates, and workflows that enable high-quality execution as the program scales.
  • Provide operational support during peak implementation periods, including field-level troubleshooting of logistics issues.

Data Aggregation, Reporting & Documentation

The PC is the hub's data aggregator and documentation lead, giving the PM clean, decision-ready information.

  • Compile weekly hub implementation reports for the Hub PM: activity completion rates, BM school visit coverage, SLP attendance, teacher mentorship completion, and emerging risks.
  • Review and clean PO-submitted data before it feeds into hub-level dashboards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Flag emerging risks visible in implementation data — such as low SLP attendance or underperforming school clusters — to the Hub PM within 48 hours.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation of all program events, government engagements, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Prepare data summaries, presentations, and briefing materials for the Hub PM's planning sessions, government meetings, and reporting to the Head of Program Implementation.

Financial & Administrative Support

The PC provides first-level financial administration so that the PM's financial oversight is fast and well-informed.

  • Conduct first-level review of requisitions, budget requests, and accountabilities from the program team for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and value for money before submission to the Hub PM for approval.
  • Track program spending against budget lines and prepare inputs for monthly Budget vs Actual (BVA) reviews led by the Hub PM.
  • Flag unusual spending patterns, documentation gaps, and budget variances to the Hub PM.
  • Ensure all financial documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Manage administrative processes for the hub program team, including travel logistics, advance requests, and activity documentation.

Government & Stakeholder Engagement Support

The PC supports the Hub PM's government partnership work through coordination, preparation, and documentation — the PM and POs own the relationships.

  • Coordinate scheduling, invitations, and logistics for regional and district government meetings, District Task Force meetings, and LGA termly meetings.
  • Prepare briefing packs, talking points, and program data summaries for the Hub PM ahead of government engagements.
  • Document all government engagements and ensure follow-up actions are tracked to completion.
  • Coordinate media coverage of program milestones — newspaper, radio, and WhatsApp channel content — in collaboration with POs and the communications function.
  • Represent the Hub PM at meetings when delegated, capturing outcomes and commitments accurately.
  • Include bullet points under each objective
  • These should list what this person will achieve, not just the function/responsibility
