About Us
We believe every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential — and that strong foundations in literacy and numeracy are where this begins.

EIDU partners with governments to strengthen public education systems at scale. Our technology-enabled platform integrates proven educational interventions and supports learners, teachers, education officers, and ministry staff within national systems.

Today, we work with 38 governments and reach nearly 800,000 students across Kenya and Nigeria, with ambitions to reach tens of millions more. A randomized controlled trial found a 0.53 standard deviation improvement in learning outcomes — placing EIDU among the top 10% of education interventions in low- and middle-income countries.

We combine analytical rigor, entrepreneurial drive, and a strong bias toward disciplined execution. As we scale, we are building an organization capable of turning strategy into measurable impact at national scale.

EIDU is funded by leading development agencies, foundations, and impact investors.

We are now looking for a Chief of Staff to support our Chief Operating Officer with several strategic initiatives to accelerate EIDU’s learning, planning and ability to scale rapidly.
About the role
The Chief of Staff is a senior, cross-functional role designed to extend the effectiveness of the Chief Operating Officer. The role focuses on translating strategy into disciplined execution, strengthening organizational planning, and ensuring that EIDU scales with clarity, accountability, and impact.

Working closely with the COO, the Chief of Staff will coordinate and strengthen core cross-functional processes that support how EIDU designs, measures, and delivers its programs.

This role requires strong judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to work credibly with senior stakeholders across Learning, Research, Data, Country teams, Finance, People, Government Relations, and Fundraising.
What you will do:
  • Program & Delivery Design:

    • Coordinate cross-functional design and review processes to ensure alignment across Learning, Research, Country, Finance, Government Relations, and Fundraising

    • Ensure that insights from research, implementation experience, and stakeholder feedback are integrated into program refinements

    • Collaborate with Learning and Data to ensure program design choices are reflected in measurable indicators and operational targets

    • Support standardization of delivery approaches across countries while maintaining contextual flexibility

  • Organizational Execution and Decision Processes

    • Facilitate cross-functional review and refinement of EIDU’s core organisational metrics and operational targets, in collaboration with Learning, Data, and Strategy.

    • Define clear decision “triggers” that connect performance indicators to strategic and operational actions and escalation pathways

    • Strengthen how data is used across countries and functions to improve focus, efficiency, and execution discipline at scale

  • Organizational planning

    • Lead cross-functional alignment on annual goals and quarterly planning cycles

    • Ensure operational targets and key metrics are embedded within planning and review processes

    • Develop content and agendas for senior leadership meetings, ensuring data and progress against targets inform strategic prioritisation

    • Align staffing and funding plans with organizational goals and priorities in collaboration with People and Finance

  • Strategic initiatives & organizational priorities

    • Drive or support high-priority cross-cutting initiatives identified by the COO, such as risk management, strategic procurement, cross-country coordination, or expansion efforts.

    • Provide structured analytical and execution support to senior leaders on time-bound strategic priorities

What you should bring:
  • The desire to use your skills to bring about positive social change.

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably including analytical coursework

  • Experience:

    • 5–8 years of experience in roles such as management consulting, strategy and operations, business intelligence, product or program management, or similar fields

    • Working in or supporting organizations operating in low-resource or Global South contexts

    • Influencing senior stakeholders and driving cross-functional initiatives

    • Entrepreneurial / startup experience preferred

  • Core Capabilities

    • Strong project and process management skills, with the ability to bring structure and clarity to complex, cross-functional work

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to synthesize data, research, and operational insight into clear recommendations.

    • Comfort working with performance dashboards and using quantitative insights to inform operational and strategic decisions; experience with SQL or BI tools is a plus.

    • Strong business judgment and practical intuition about what is likely to work in specific country, resource, and stakeholder contexts

    • Fluency in English required

  • Ways of Working

    • Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders without relying on formal authority

    • Comfort working in ambiguity and fast-changing environments

    • Strong cross-cultural collaboration skills, with experience working across diverse geographies and backgrounds

    • High level of ownership and discretion when handling sensitive or high-stakes topics

What we offer:
  • A chance to directly contribute to solving a pressing global problem.

  • Being a part of an international and passionate team located in Kenya, Germany and Nigeria.

  • A role with significant visibility and influence across the organization, with the potential to grow into broader leadership responsibilities over time.

  • A financial runway that ensures you have the security and resources you need to excel in your role.

  • An open environment where feedback is welcomed promoting mutual growth.

  • High degree of flexibility with regard to working hours and vacations.
