The position of State Partnerships Director involves overseeing Ellevation's state-level initiatives and directly reporting to the Chief Customer Officer. This significant role entails managing a wide array of external and internal stakeholders and plays a crucial part in supporting Ellevation's overall business objectives.
External Work:
Oversee and execute a comprehensive strategy at the state level to effectively showcase Ellevation products and services in response to RFPs and state lists. The goal is to position our offerings as best-in-class solutions for English Learners (ELs) and Multilingual Learners (MLLs) to state-level decision-makers. This involves proactively educating State Education Agency (SEA) stakeholders about the unique requirements of ELs/MLLs and the educators supporting them. Positive business outcomes may encompass successfully identifying and applying for an RFP to deliver EL software services to a State Education Agency or aiding state policymakers in understanding the distinct needs of EL/MLL professionals. This understanding could be reflected in an increased issuance of State RFPs explicitly seeking EL solutions.
Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders at the State level to propel Ellevation's business objectives and mission forward. This involves engaging with EL/MLL/Bilingual Coordinators, academic leaders, professional learning leaders, as well as influential political and policy figures, including non-state advocacy organizations. Positive outcomes resulting from these efforts could encompass:
1) heightened awareness of impending policy changes, enabling Ellevation to develop timely product solutions
2) early access to procurement opportunities beneficial to Ellevation
3) assistance in advocating for policies conducive to positive outcomes for Multilingual Learners (MLLs).
External / Internal
Support and, as applicable, direct the work of internal sales and government relations teams in pursuit of company objectives and mission. As an example, this might include directing the work of state-level lobbyists in key states where we need help with a business issue, in partnership with colleagues at Curriculum Associates.
Internal
The Director, State Partnerships will provide strategic direction for the internal Ellevation teams responsible for supporting State-level accounts. This would include, over time, serving as the key point of contact for SEA leaders on issues like contract renewal and reporting needs. It would also include working closely with internal Support and Sales teams to ensure that company resources are properly aligned to serve the needs of the State.
At least initially, this position will not be responsible for managing people.
