The Role
The Accountant will support the daily financial operations of the organization, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and credit card transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure proper coding of expenses and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Issue and track customer invoices for earned revenue and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Record and apply incoming payments, maintaining accurate accounts receivable records.
General Ledger and Reconciliations
- Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly account reconciliations.
- Support the month-end and quarter-end close processes by maintaining organized and accurate financial records.
- Assist in maintaining the chart of accounts and perform data entry in accounting systems.
Audit and Compliance Support
- Assist with the preparation for the annual audit, including gathering and organizing supporting documentation.
- Monitor spending against restricted and unrestricted funds to ensure compliance with donor and grant requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with program and development teams to track grant budgets and reporting requirements.
- Support the finance team in implementing process improvements and automation initiatives.

Key Qualifications / Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or in the final stages of completion).
- Demonstrated interest in nonprofit accounting and financial operations.
- Internship or entry-level experience in a finance/accounting environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage Intacct is preferred but not required.
