IntroductionFood for Education (F4E) is an African-led, women-led social enterprise that utilizes technology, efficient operations, and logistics to deliver low-cost, high-quality meals that enhance nutrition and educational outcomes for primary school children in Kenya.
We have delivered over 140 million meals since 2012, and our goal is to serve at least 1 million public primary school students in Kenya daily by 2027. Furthermore, we aim to feed an additional 2 million children in two other African countries by 2030 by sharing technical advice and best practices with African governments and other school feeding partners.
It’s an exciting time to join Food4Education as we embark on this growth trajectory to further our vision of a world where no child has to learn while hungry.
Our ValuesAt Food for Education, our values are guiding principles that provide us with purpose and direction and set the tone for our interactions with all stakeholders:
- Build with excellence and curiosity - We’re not afraid to try new things and iterate as much as we can to find the best and most efficient way to get results.
- Be the change you seek - We acknowledge that continuous improvement is a shared responsibility.
- We do what we say, and say what we do - We embrace an ownership mentality.
- Ask why, and commit - Share openly, question respectfully, and commit fully. When we understand the why, we can work with a purpose.
About the Knowledge Operations TeamAs a Learning Experience Designer you will sit in the Knowledge Operations team. Knowledge Operations is a new function designed to strengthen how our teams learn, share, and apply knowledge at scale. This entails co-developing knowledge assets such as SOPs and playbooks alongside functional leads across the organisation making sure knowledge is readily available, up-to-date, user friendly and easily accessible.
The team ensures that SOPs, training resources, and digital tools are not only created but actively embedded into daily practice, helping frontline staff work confidently and reducing dependency on managers for routine guidance. This is about more than producing manuals. It’s about creating practical, accessible resources, building the systems that support them, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
On a larger scale, the team is also responsible for turning F4E’s internal knowledge assets into learning products that can be shared externally, positioning the organization as a center of
excellence in school feeding.
About the RoleAs a Learning Experience Designer you’ll play a hands-on role in:
1. Knowledge capture (30%). This entails working with teams to document how things are done (SOPs, playbooks, processes). This responsibility will mainly lie with the functional leads but support is needed to guide the format in which knowledge is captured to ensure its usability.
2. Learning design (70%). This entails taking the documented knowledge and turning it into actual training content (courses, videos, guides) that can be used by both internal staff and external stakeholders. This responsibility is 100% owned by the Learning Experience Designer. However it is important to note that the internal knowledge assets (SoPs, Playbooks etc) are an input into the learning design process, hence learning design cannot happen without the knowledge capture process.
The primary focus of this role is to
strengthen internal operational learning, while leading the development of learning materials for F4E’s Centre of Excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is excited to observe first-hand how the knowledge and learning assets they develop directly impact internal operations and support the launch of F4E’s Centre of Excellence.
