About the Role

The OSH administrator will play a key role in championing workplace safety and health. They will coordinate and administer the organization's occupational safety and health (OSH) programs in achieving compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007, WIBA 2007, and other relevant regulations. The OSH Administrator will also manage documentation, training, inspections, and workplace incident response.

Key Responsibilities

1. Compliance and Documentation
  • Supports and coordinates the implementation of the OSH workplan, including medical surveillance, occupational injury incident reporting, and communication coordination with the F4E-appointed intermediary or policy provider

  • Drive workplace OSH compliance and standards through effective policy implementation and monitoring

  • Ensure regulatory compliance while promoting safety awareness in achieving personnel protection, office assets, and the working environment

  • Ensure statutory registrations are up to date: workplace registration, fire certificates, plant and equipment certificates

  • Documentation and record keeping of all defined budgets and expenditures for all activities within the OSH scope, while ensuring assets and inventory management

  • Documentation & Keep records of all incidents, near misses, training, medical exams, and equipment inspections

  • Supports coordination and execution of statutory OSH audits, emergency response planning, and environmental initiatives

  • Maintain OSH Management systems with regular updates to ensure alignment with current regulatory, statutory, and industry best practices in liaison with the manager

  • Support in the preparation of OSH monthly reports and weekly activities updates

  • Support in the administration of the OSH Budget, ensuring all activities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner

  • Maintain and update OSH work stream trackers - Workplace Mapout, WIBA GPA tracker, etc

  • Ensure and support on OSH vendors/supplier management, ensuring follow-up on PO’s, confirmation of goods and services delivery, and payment within the stipulated organization's procurement guidelines

2. Risk Management & Inspection
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments across Kitchens, warehouses, and offices

  • Identify hazards: chemical, physical, ergonomic, psychosocial, and recommend control measures

  • Implement control measures to mitigate risks, maintain the register, and ensure follow-up of corrective actions

  • Prepare & coordinate external audits & certifications: DOSHS, ISO 14001, ISO45001, and support in closing all the corrective actions

  • Inspect PPE, first aid kits, fire equipment, and emergency exits to ensure they are in order and service schedules are met.

3. Training & Awareness
  • Organise mandatory OSH trainings: induction for new staff, visitors, statutory first aid, fire marshal, work-at-height, etc

  • Develop toolbox talks, safety alerts, and posters. Run safety campaigns and drills

  • Regularly update the Safety & Health Committee on legal changes and best practices

  • Maintain training matrix and ensure 100% compliance for high-risk roles

4. Incident Management
  • Serve as the first point of contact for workplace injuries, near misses, and dangerous occurrences

  • Support investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, document root causes, and track implementation of corrective actions

  • Ensure timely reporting and GPA, DOSHS WIBA Process is adhered to, and closure in liaison with our intermediary and insurance provider

  • Liaise with HR on WIBA GPA claims, injured employee wellbeing, WIBA GPA documentation follow-ups, and return-to-work programs

5. Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare OSH reports, dashboards, and trackers

  • Maintain documentation related to safety, procedures, audits & compliance

Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Law, Engineering, or related field

  • Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA). Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years’ OSH experience, preferably in Manufacturing/Construction/NGO

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 2007, WIBA 2007, Factory Rules, and NEMA regulations

  • Certified in First Aid and Fire Safety by an approved institution

  • Proficient in MS Office + any HSE software

  • Consolidated and accurate OSH reports

  • Successful delivery of planned OSH activities, inductions, trainings, etc

  • Closing out all OSH compliance, regulatory, and audit actions

  • Reduction in workplace incidents and Lost Time Injury Frequency Rates (LTIFR).
