Job summary
The Future Fundi STEM Instructor will deliver high-quality, hands-on instruction across the Future Fundi learning pathways (Link to our learning pathways). You will facilitate learner-centred sessions using the Future Fundi Academy Curriculum, guide students in building verifiable artifacts and projects and contribute to curriculum refinement through continuous feedback loops.

This role requires passion for Education, teaching practical skills, and transforming lives through innovative STEAM education. You will be part of our bold goal to reach one million learners by 2030, working in schools, office premises, and community centres.
Key Result Areas
Performance Objectives
Instruction and Facilitation (60%)
  • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction using Fundi Bots' Future Fundi Curriculum.
  • Guide students through artifact creation with clear demonstrations and scaffolding.

  • Maintain high student engagement through hands-on experimentation and real-world problem solving.
  • Design/create engaging learning content (modules, videos, tools, etc.,).
  • Document lesson delivery, student progress, and learning outcomes weekly.

Assessment and Artifact Verification (20%)
  • Assess student competencies using Fundi Bots' micro-credential rubrics and practical demonstrations.
  • Verify completed projects and artifacts meet quality standards (functionality, safety, documentation, innovation).
  • Provide constructive feedback, helping students improve their technical work and problem-solving.
  • Maintain comprehensive portfolios for each learner with photos, videos, and documentations.
  • Track student progress through micro-credentials and competency milestones using Fundi Bots' tracking system.
  • Prepare students for evaluations and showcase events.
  • Report student outcomes, attendance, and impact data periodically to the Head of Programs monthly.
  • Document challenges, innovations, lessons learned, and best practices from field experience.

Community Engagement and Partnership (20%)
  • Build positive relationships with school leadership, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Conduct termly showcases where students demonstrate their projects to communities.
  • Provide regular parent updates on student progress, achievements, interests and potential careers.
  • Support community repair days, maker fairs, science competitions, and public engagement events.

Continuous Improvement and Professional Development (20%)
  • Participate in weekly instructor micro-lessons and technical skill-building sessions.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors across Uganda sharing best practices and resources.
  • Pursue progression through Future Fundi instructor certification ladder.
Who we are looking for
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Education, Engineering, Computer Science, Agriculture, Physics, Electronics, or any STEM related fields.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in technical training, STEM education, vocational training, or related teaching.
  • Deep practical knowledge in STEM domains with proven ability to build and create.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach practical, hands-on skills to children, youth, or adults.
  • Computer skills including email, MS suite, safe internet use, AI, Google workspace, and online platforms.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety and proven ability to enforce safety protocols consistently guided by our Child protection policy.
  • Passion for making science accessible and excitement about hands-on, experiential learning.
  • Alignment with Fundi Bots' mission to accelerate science learning for African youth.

We provide hands-on, practical Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)) education to children and youth in classrooms, communities and universities.

Our students learn how to build robots, which radically improves school curriculum knowledge, classroom performance provides hands-on vocational skills and career development and empowers students to be forces of change in their communities.
