About the role
As Fundi Bots enters a pivotal stage of organizational growth and innovation, planning its expansion to more schools and new countries/regions, it is seeking to build its leadership team by hiring a Deputy Executive Director to -work with its founder and current Executive Directory, Solomon King Benge.
The incoming Deputy Executive Director will guide the organization as it embarks on implementing a visionary strategic plan designed to amplify its impact, broaden its footprint across more African countries, schools and communities, and strengthen its collaborations with educational stakeholders throughout Africa.
This period of transformation will also involve expanding the board of directors, refining governance structures, re-structuring the organization, and ensuring that Fundi Bots is poised to achieve its ambitious objectives and long-term sustainability goals.
Job summary
The Deputy Executive Director will work with the Executive Director and the Fundi Bots Board, primarily to scale and optimize the Enhanced Science Curriculum (ESC) program for growth across the country and the African continent, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and ensuring overall strength of impact for its beneficiaries.
This role will be instrumental in driving the ESC program's growth, sustainability, and success, ensuring that it effectively fulfills its mission. This role is responsible for ensuring that the organization's mission, vision, and values are effectively implemented while maintaining financial sustainability, operational excellence, and programmatic impact.
The Deputy Executive Director will serve as the key liaison between the Board of Directors, government agencies, donor bodies, international stakeholders, and the broader community. Therole requires significant expertise in government engagement, program scaling, funding strategies, and education development.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about transforming education, advocating for policy changes, and working with government and international bodies to scale the impact of the ESC Program and Fundi Bots as a whole.
Key Result Areas
Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Lead the development and implementation of Fundi Bots' strategic vision, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and long-term objectives for the Enhanced
Science Curriculum.
- Drive key initiatives to expand and enhance Fundi Bots' impact, focusing on education, government engagement, and international collaborations.
- Ensure that Fundi Bots is adaptable and responsive to both local and global trends in education, funding, and government policy.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate potential challenges and risks that could impede Fundi Bots' strategic goals and/or operational effectiveness.
- Clearly communicate the strategic vision and its components to all levels of the organization to ensure full alignment across the team.
Governance and Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as Fundi Bots' primary representative to stakeholders, including government bodies, international organizations, donors, and the beneficiaries.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, educational institutions, and international bodies to ensure alignment with Fundi Bots' goals and increase opportunities for funding and collaboration.
- Work with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates on the organization's progress, challenges, and financial health.
Program Design and Implementation
- Oversee the design, implementation, and scaling of educational programs, ensuring they align with Fundi Bots' mission and address the needs of stakeholders.
- Ensure the integration of evidence-based methodologies into program delivery to enhance learning outcomes and measurable impact.
- Develop and implement a robust system to evaluate the effectiveness of the ESC and use data to inform improvements.
Financial Management and Sustainability
- Lead efforts to secure and sustain funding for the organization by developing comprehensive fundraising strategies that tap into diverse channels, including government grants, international donors, and other funding bodies
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring that financial resources are used efficiently to meet the program's goals.
- Ensure financial transparency and accountability, by providing timely and accurate reports that clearly communicate the organization's financial health, to stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
- Develop and maintain robust financial risk management practices ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, and safeguard the organization against financial mismanagement and fraud.
Operational Efficiency
- Enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness through streamlined processes, robust management systems, and continuous improvement practices to support the organization's goals.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements in operational processes to improve resource usage, streamline workflows, and increase efficiency across the organization.
- Leverage appropriate technology solutions to enhance program outputs, data management, communication, and overall operational productivity.
- Develop and maintain a system of key performance indicators that accurately measure operational success and areas for improvement, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Invest in ongoing training and development programs for staff to ensure they are proficient in the latest operational practices and technologies.
- Implement strong quality control and safety mechanisms to ensure that the organization's services meet or exceed established standards and maintain a safe working environment for all employees and clients.
Leadership and Talent management
- Build and sustain a high-performing leadership team by providing mentorship, guidance, and support to senior managers and staff.

- Optimize resource allocation and program impact using cost-effective strategies and tools that maximize program outputs while minimizing delivery cost.
- Establish clear guidelines and standards for program delivery to ensure consistency, quality, and impact across all initiatives.
- Develop rigorous data-driven methodology to measure and evaluate program outcomes so as to objectively demonstrate learning outcomes and overall impact.
- Continuously engage program beneficiaries, partners, and other stakeholders to gather feedback and adjust programs accordingly to inform ongoing program development and refinement.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify and address potential risks, ensuring the organization's programs and activities are compliant with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Develop strategies for managing financial, operational, and reputational risks, safeguarding the organizatin's integrity and sustainability.
- Ensure the program complies with national and international educational standards, safeguarding policies, and donor requirements.

Who we are looking for
Education - Education: Master's degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the education sector, regulatory frameworks, and best practices in educational leadership.
Experience- Experience: Minimum of l0 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in an educational or nonprofit institution.
