ABOUT GENERATION

At Generation, we believe in the power of employment to change lives. We are a global nonprofit organization that supports adults to achieve economic mobility through employment. Generation trains and places adult learners of all ages into careers that are otherwise inaccessible, working in partnership with governments, employers, and other system actors. We also conduct original research and share data insights on high-priority global workforce transition topics to inform decision-making by workforce system stakeholders. Launched in 2015, Generation comprises a global hub (Generation You Employed, or GYE) and a network of in-country affiliates. To date, the network has 150,000+ graduates and 23,000+ employers across 50 professions and 17 countries.

When learners join Generation, 91% are unemployed, of which nearly half are long-term unemployed. Three months after completing our program, graduates have a 78% job placement rate, rising to 88% within six months. Of our employed graduates, 79% are hired by repeat employers who have previously hired Generation graduates, and 89% are in jobs directly related to the profession for which we have trained them. Employed graduates immediately earn an average of 3-4X their previous earnings. Two to five years after graduation, 77% of our alumni from upper-middle income countries continue to meet their daily financial needs and 63% can save for the future. To date, Generation’s global graduates have earned more than $1.9 billion in wages. Generation graduates typically have a secondary school background, 52% are female, 28% have dependents, and the majority identify with underrepresented communities in their country.

JOB OBJECTIVES

Generation operates across multiple African countries. Currently anchored in Ghana and Kenya, with strong ambition to deepen its impact, expand into new markets, and build more financially sustainable operating models. Over the next two years, Generation seeks to scale multi-country operations to four or more countries, pilot a sector ecosystem model, and establish a trajectory towards earned revenue and reduced donor dependency in Africa.

We are seeking an Africa Employer Partnerships Manager to lead employer engagement across Generation’s Africa portfolio, with a dual focus on:

  1. Securing anchor, multi-country partnerships with multinational employers—particularly in BPO/ITO and digital/tech sectors
  2. Driving employer demand and placement opportunities in new and scaling markets (initially Nigeria, and subsequently Ethiopia, South Africa, and others)

Reporting to the Region CEO for South Asia, Middle East, and Africa (SAMEA), with a dotted-line relationship to the Global Employer Partnerships Director, this role sits at the intersection of commercial growth, strategic partnerships, and market expansion.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role: the successful candidate will both lead complex, enterprise-level partnerships and personally source and close employer relationships in new markets. Over time, the role may involve building and managing a regional employer partnerships team.

This is a 12-month fixed-term employee contract, renewable subject to performance and continued funding, with strong potential for extension and long-term growth.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Employer Partnerships (Multi-country / MNC focus)

  • Identify, develop, and secure anchor partnerships with multinational employers that can scale across multiple African countries
  • Build and manage enterprise-level relationships, designing partnership models that align with Generation’s programs and employer talent needs
  • Create strategic partnerships that create revenue and help us to further our mission.
  • Collaborate closely with global and regional leadership, as well as country teams in Kenya and Ghana, to align on partnership strategy and delivery
  • Coordinate cross-country engagement with employers to ensure consistency and maximize long-term partnership value

2.Employer Sourcing & Vacancy Generation in New Markets

  • Act as the primary employer partnerships lead in new or early-stage countries (initially Nigeria) where we don’t have local team presence
  • Personally source, engage, and close employers, securing job opportunities for Generation graduates
  • Build a strong pipeline of employers and vacancies aligned to program needs and growth plans
  • Develop and refine the employer partnerships playbook for new market entry

3.Business Development

  • Deliver against defined KPI’s and targets such as new partnerships, opportunities, vacancies, recruitment conversion rates and placements.
  • Build a robust partnerships pipeline to support consistent delivery across multiple markets
  • Develop and refine employer value propositions to drive long-term strategic partnerships
  • Track performance rigorously, providing regular reporting on pipeline and conversion metrics

4.Account Management & Partnership Growth

  • Ensure strong post-placement engagement with employers, including interview processes, feedback loops, and performance tracking
  • Grow and deepen relationships with existing partners to drive repeat hiring and expanded engagement across geographies
  • Act as the point of escalation for complex employer issues across multiple countries
  • Capture and share employer insights to inform program design and employer value proposition

5.International & Remote Work Opportunities

  • Identify and secure international remote work opportunities for Generation graduates across Africa
  • Develop partnerships with global employers that enable cross-border employment pathways, particularly in digital and remote-first roles
  • Collaborate with global teams to align on remote talent strategies and employer requirements

6.Team Leadership & Regional Capability Building

  • Recruit, manage, and develop regional BD / Employer Partnerships Associates as the Africa portfolio grows
  • Set clear targets, manage performance, and build a high-performing regional partnerships function
  • Provide coaching and support to in-country employer partnerships teams where needed, ensuring alignment and knowledge sharing

7.Contribution to Regional & Global Strategy

  • Input into Africa growth strategy, particularly on employer demand, sector focus, and revenue models
  • Contribute to the development of global employer partnerships approaches, tools, and playbooks
  • Represent Generation externally with employers, industry groups, and ecosystem stakeholders across Africa
