Generation is a global non-profit organization that supports adults to achieve economic mobility through employment. Generation trains and places adult learners of all ages into careers that are otherwise inaccessible, working in partnership with governments, employers, and other system actors. Launched in 2015, Generation comprises a global hub (Generation You Employed, or GYE) and a network of in-country affiliates. To date, the network has 76,000+ graduates and 11,000+ employers across 35 professions and 17 countries. When learners join Generation, 90% are unemployed, of which nearly half are long-term unemployed. Three months after completing our program, graduates have an 81% job placement rate, rising to 90% within six months.
Of our employed graduates, 67% are hired by our repeat employer partners, and 88% are in jobs directly related to the profession for which we have trained them. Employed graduates immediately earn an average of 3-4X their previous earnings. Two to six years after graduation, 70% of alumni continue to meet their daily financial needs and 40% save for the future. To date, Generation’s global graduates have earned $630 million in wages, which will rise to $1 billion by 2023. Generation graduates typically have a secondary school background, 54% are female, 40% have dependents, and the majority identify with underrepresented communities in their country. Generation GYE conducts original research and shares data insights on high priority global workforce transition topics to inform decision-making by workforce system stakeholders.
JOB OBJECTIVESGeneration is seeking an exceptional Global Partnerships Manager who will play a pivotal role in driving the design, implementation, and management of Generation’s impactful programs aimed at fostering economic mobility through employment. S/he will be responsible for managing our partnership proposal development process, designing effective interventions, nurturing strategic partnerships, managing accounts, and ensuring accurate reporting to donors and other key stakeholders.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES1. - Lead the design and development of compelling partnership proposals, ensuring alignment with the mission and strategic orientations of Generation and our partners.
- Collaborate with members across the partnerships team, functional teams, and country teams to conceptualize and design innovative program strategies that further our mission and work.
- Create detailed work plans that break down our proposed interventions into tasks, activities, and milestones.
- Establish clear timelines for project implementation considering task dependencies.
- Co-design our programs’ budgets, allocating resources effectively to achieve project goals.
- Conduct thorough research in the field of workforce development and economic mobility to inform partnership proposal design and strategic decision making.
3. Reporting and Impact Assessment:
- Cultivate strong relationships with partners, including foundations and corporations.
- Act as a key point of contact for project stakeholders, including donors and functional and/or country teams implementing our activities, addressing their needs, concerns, and feedback in a timely manner.
- Contribute to partnership renewal discussions with our active partners.
4. Team Collaboration:
- Prepare comprehensive impact reports demonstrating our projects’ impact and outcomes; work closely with our Global Grants Lead to ensure impact numbers are correct and reports are submitted on time.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, accomplishments, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with functional and/or country teams on the implementation of robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track project performance and impact.
- Support the coordination of data consolidation and analysis efforts to produce accurate and comprehensive reports for donors, stakeholders, and Generation’s leadership.
- Collaborate with the communications teams at GYE and across the Generation network to share success stories, qualitative outcomes, and lessons learned through various channels to spotlight the importance of creating career pathways for underrepresented communities and how our partnerships catalyze these efforts.
5. Strategic Development:
- Collaborate closely with our functional teams, including the Partnerships team, the Data & Impact team, the Finance team, the Learner Engagement team, the Employer Engagement team, the Communications team, and the Digital team to ensure smooth project implementation and adherence to budgetary constraints and compliance standards.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to country teams, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS (e.g. include membership of any formal GYE committees related to your role)Internal:
- Contribute to the strategic development of Generation by providing insights, recommendations, and innovative ideas related to partnership program design, partnership opportunities, and growth initiatives centered around economic mobility.
- Proactively identify the need for, and oversee the creation of, new resources that will make our team more efficient and effective (e.g., proposal templates).
- Partners with global Chief Partnerships Officer, Partnerships Directors, and other members of the global Partnerships team to develop new partnership programs and manage existing accounts that fuel the growth of Generation.
- Coordinates with country leadership, country partnerships teams, and regional leads across the Generation network to help develop new cross-regional partnership program opportunities and manage reporting for existing ones.
- Works collaboratively with the Global functional leaders for the development of new partnership program concepts, proposal development, and reporting on existing accounts.
- Works closely with the Global Grants Lead and global finance team to ensure high-quality delivery and management of partnerships.
ATTRIBUTES (e.g. qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience)
- Helps maintain relationships with external funders who support Generation.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Master's degree is a plus
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in fundraising, strategy design and implementation, program design and management, and/or account management. Experience in the field of workforce development and economic mobility is strongly preferred.
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to articulate and simplify complex concepts into compelling proposals. This includes helping to surface labor market challenges and philanthropic trends that the team can turn into development opportunities for Generation and our learners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals and reports.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to collaborate with others from different backgrounds and cultures in an efficient and effective way, while building trust-based relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and best practices.
- Proven experience in building and/or cultivating strategic partnerships.
