The Opportunity

The School of Engineering, Technology, and Aeronautics (SETA) at Southern New Hampshire University invites applications for a full-time faculty appointment for the Mechanical Engineering program. You will be at the assistant professor level, starting fall 2024, with primary responsibilities in teaching undergraduate Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Core courses, mentoring students and developing curriculum for our programs. We are looking for faculty who can contribute vision, energy, and leadership, and are eager to help further curriculum development at a college where one person can make a difference.

We are looking for colleagues who work towards excellence in undergraduate education and who value hands-on project-based learning. Faculty members are encouraged to be involved in multiple interdisciplinary projects across the campus. This position is located onsite on our campus in Manchester, NH. You will report to the Dean of Engineering, Technology, and Aeronautics.

In this Role You'll Get To:

  • Prepare and teach college-approved Mechanical Engineering courses following approved course descriptions and class schedules
  • Contribute to shared governance by participating in department and College committees and assisting in the formulation of policy on educational programs
  • Mentor students in the department for their academic needs and mentor students in project work
  • Participate in the departmental efforts for curriculum development, program reviews and accreditation under the supervision of the department chair and coordinators
  • Collaborate with the faculty/staff in departmental and school-level projects
  • Develop and attend professional improvement activities to maintain contact with one's academic discipline, including teaching/learning processes and development of knowledge in one's field of specialization
  • Develop new instructional materials, techniques, course offerings or major revisions of the same
  • Participate in student career development and related mentoring activities and special retention programs
  • Participate in College outreach events and projects
  • Attend occasional evening and weekend SETA, Admission and University-wide events
  • Attend trainings, professional development activities and meetings

What we're Looking For:

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or an allied field
  • 3+ years of teaching experience
  • Experience teaching within an established Engineering Technology (ET) program
  • Specialization in Vibrations, Controls or Dynamics
  • 1+ years of industrial experience in a manufacturing or production setting
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
