The Opportunity

As a Custodial Training Technician in our team, your primary responsibility is to provide training to custodial personnel, ensuring adherence to the SNHU Custodial Department Cleaning Standard Operating Procedure guidelines. You will manage the proper utilization and disposal of cleaning materials, and oversee the general maintenance of cleaning equipment. Additionally, you will step in for staff and assigned by the lead or manager, coordinate dirty laundry pickups, and handle special projects as designated by custodial management.

Working with the custodial manager, your role includes assisting leads in conducting monthly in-service sessions. These sessions will cover fundamental and advanced concepts in facilities custodial cleaning, floor care, and above-the-floor cleaning processes. Furthermore, you will help train all new employees on basic and advanced cleaning tasks following the standards set by custodial management.

In this Role You'll Get To:

  • Collaborate closely with the custodial manager and leads to provide instruction on best practices and current standards. Topics covered will include chemical properties of cleaning solutions, dilutions, and proper applications; chemical safety; hard floor care; carpet care; restroom and shower room care; disinfection, including blood and bodily fluids clean-up protocols; and above-the-floor cleaning, encompassing glass, stainless, wood, plastic, etc.

  • Assist leads in training their teams on new cleaning techniques, procedures, and the operation and maintenance of new cleaning equipment.

  • In coordination with the Custodial manager, support and conduct instructional training for all shift personnel and work zones, adjusting schedules as needed.

  • Attend mandatory trainings, meetings, and learning opportunities to stay current in skills, knowledge, and certifications.

  • Work on cleaning projects assigned by the leads/manager, ensuring timely and efficient completion.

  • Cover designated areas in the absence of employees, maintaining continuity in custodial operations.

  • Stay informed about new products and procedures in the cleaning industry, ensuring familiarity with the most efficient and effective cleaning techniques available.

  • Manage tasks such as dirty laundry pickup, ensuring the seamless operation of custodial services, even during staff shortages.

  • Practices critical thinking skills

  • Demonstrates personal accountability

  • Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved

  • Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements.

  • Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all housekeeping tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

  • May be asked to perform specialty tasks according to facility needs including tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of window/shower curtains.

  • May be asked to assist with on-boarding of new custodial technicians.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
