The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of MPAL Greeter and Assistant. Manchester Police Athletic League connects cops and kids through free athletic, educational, and enrichment instruction to help kids make the right choices and become productive members of the community. This position will assist in making sure all kids and volunteers are checked in and will assist with programs. Applicants must have federal work study as part of their financial aid offer.

Description of Duties:

  • Greet youth, guests and volunteers as they enter the building
  • Check people into the scanning system
  • Assist class lead with program needs – equipment, set-up and facilitation.
  • Represent MPAL to participants, parents, and the community

Other potential activities as available:

  • Assist new parents and kids by providing information on MPAL programs
  • Assist with cleaning when needed; this includes but is not limited to cleaning/disinfecting program equipment, doing loads of laundry, loading and running the dishwasher, etc.
  • Assist with tracking inventory of various supplies
  • Assist with special events
  • Chaperone field trips
  • Assist with program-specific tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in SNHU degree program
  • Work study as part of financial aid package
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with kids, parents, volunteers/police officers, and staff in both oral and written form
  • Ability to solve practical problems and exercise sound judgement
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work irregular hours while performing the duties of this position.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all organization policies.
  • Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
  • Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of MPAL participants, volunteers, partners, and donors
  • Proficient use of a computer

Work Schedule:

Flexible, Tuesday and/or Thursday 3pm – 7pm (select one, two or three days a week) Wednesday is especially helpful! 4pm – 7pm.

Monday cooking classes: 4pm – 5:30pm 9/25, 10/23, 10/30, 11/20, 1/22, 1/29, 2/12, 3/25, 4/15, 4/29
