The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Academic Support, the tutor facilitates student learning by supporting academic content and promoting and modeling the use of study skills. The Tutor integrates learning strategies into their facilitation fostering independent and successful learners. You will support students through a variety of modalities including 1:1 support and educational workshops. #LI-Remote

What you'll do:

  • Engage in and model Academic Support's non-directive, reciprocal peer tutoring model.

  • Create a weekly tutoring schedule (15 hrs. per week) each term.

  • Develop an understanding of university supports and resources.

  • Participate in Online Peer Tutor training program and ongoing role-specific training to maximize effectiveness with students.

  • Engage in all modalities of the Academic Support Center, 1:1 appointments and group experiences such as workshops to provide on-demand support related to the online student experience.

  • Positively improve retention and success of online students by providing student support and fostering engaging learning experiences.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all student records and information shared during tutoring sessions.

  • Conduct your work shifts in a dedicated, quiet environment with reliable internet access.

  • Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • Continued or previous successful enrollment in an online undergraduate or graduate program with SNHU Global Campus (must be a current SNHU student or recent graduate).

  • Completed at least five courses at SNHU within your major (15 credits).

  • Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA in their qualified subject matter as an active SNHU student until graduation.
