The opportunity

The student managers of the Last Chapter Pub provide high-quality customer service to the Southern New Hampshire University community. General duties include providing free soda and snacks to all student guests, selling beer and wine for those 20+ on select nights and assisting with programs taking place in the space. Employees must be willing to work flexible hours, late nights and weekends. This position also supports the Office of Student Involvement in general, and employees may participate in special projects as assigned. Our student employees are essential in helping us build community and support others finding a sense of belonging at SNHU. We look to hire students who demonstrate integrity, which are paramount to the operations of the Last Chapter Pub.

Manager Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the supervision, hiring, evaluating, and training of all Last Chapter Pub Staff
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the Last Chapter Pub.
  • Maintain acceptable standards of practice as prescribed in the TEAM Program.
  • Assist in hiring, supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating student employees.
  • Facilitate generation of advertising for Pub Events and social media.
  • Facilitate the completion of Event Evaluation Forms at the conclusion of each event.
  • Complete Cash Report forms and count the register drawer at the beginning and completion of each wet event shift.
  • Serve as an open line of communication between Pub staff and the Student Center Office
  • Close out register on Wet Nights and ensure proper reconciliation of cash in a manner approved by state auditors.
  • Work with campus clubs and organizations to coordinate programming and promotion efforts for events scheduled in the Last Chapter Pub.
  • Hold Last Chapter Pub Staff meetings on a regular basis. (Monthly, bi-weekly, etc.)
  • Attend all Student Center Trainings and gatherings.
  • Attend weekly Pub Manager Meetings.
  • Plan special programming for the Last Chapter Pub
  • Cross train with Tech Crew Manager for event support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Enforce all Southern New Hampshire University and the State of New Hampshire laws, regulations, and policies
  • Check identification for all guests during wet shifts in accordance with state laws
  • Operate the point of sales system for purchased snacks, smoothies, beer, wine and promotional merchandise
  • Prepare and serve, in a safe and hygienic way, food and beverage including soda, popcorn, cookies, smoothies, appetizers and small snacks
  • Assist with the cleaning of the bar and kitchen area of the Last Chapter Pub including washing down all surfaces, mopping floors, cleaning ovens, etc.
  • Assist guests with requests including changing TV stations, renting pool table equipment, event set-ups, etc.
  • Assist the Last Chapter Pub Managers with inventory and quality control as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Maintain a positive attitude during all shifts and be a role model for colleagues
  • Arrive at all shifts on-time and stay until the end of the shift
  • Wear appropriately designated and provided attire
  • Must be committed to creating and supporting an inclusive community
  • Attend all monthly staff meetings and employee appreciation events

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a full time enrolled student in an Undergraduate Day or Graduate Day Program
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Must be able to climb stairs, sit, stoop, walk and carry 50 lbs. as needed
