The opportunity

The Engineering Lab Facilitator works within the School of Engineering, Technology, and Aeronautics (SETA). This engaging role collaborates with faculty, staff, and students and requires someone who is eager to be active in higher education. In partnership with the engineering faculty, the Engineering Lab Facilitator supports implementation of engineering lab curriculum with a focus on electrical engineering and robotics laboratory experiences. The Engineering Lab Facilitator also provides students with engineering lab support. This position reports to the Associate Dean of SETA.

What you'll do:

  • Assist engineering faculty in designing and implementing engineering lab experiences.
  • Support students in project development and completion by providing feedback.
  • Reinforces safety protocols and compliance with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Partner with the SETA Lab Operations team on items such as laboratory use and practices.
  • Work with engineering faculty and SETA Lab Operations Team to identify requirements of space, equipment, and consumables for lab curriculum.
  • Participate in meetings for the school, engineering department, and committees.
  • Maintain expertise in relevant subject areas to provide faculty with information about current trends.
  • Active participant in accreditation activities (i.e., NECHE, ABET, reviews, audits, and applications).
  • Other administrative tasks to support the engineering department and SETA Dean's office.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 Years of experience in an engineering or engineering technology role that includes hands-on experience in electrical or robotic systems and working knowledge in multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience teaching and working with students.
  • Experience in soldering, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout and associated PCB design software.
  • Experience in a test engineering role.
  • Experience with an interdisciplinary engineering team.
