The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University’s traditional campus is seeking an Intramural Official to work for the Campus Recreation department. This position will officiate intramural sports contests and assist Intramural Supervisors, as well as the Competitive Sports Coordinator. This position must also implement Intramural Sports policies and playing rules in order to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness, and safety. This position is a great way for students to meet others and build relationships with students and staff in an athletic setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with pre- and post-game logistics and administrative functions
  • Know and enforce rules and regulations according to the Intramural policy handbook and sport rules books.
  • Provide a competitive, fun, and safe environment through officiating
  • Enforce and evaluate sporting conduct of intramural teams and participants
  • Employ strong decision making and conflict resolution skills while making quick decisions with confidence and using correct mechanics
  • Assist the Intramural Supervisors and the Competitive Sports Coordinator with necessary office tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an Undergraduate or Graduate Day program at SNHU
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Willingness to continue training and improve skills
  • Confidence in abilities to make decisions
  • Positive attitude while working in a fast environment
  • CPR certified (Campus Recreation will certify all students who don’t currently hold a certification free of charge)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Experience in athletics
  • Experience officiating or sport specific officiating certification

Work Hours:

Monday – Thursday between 4:00 pm and 12:00 am and Saturday and Sundays varying time. Total number of hours per week not to exceed 20.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
