The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking an individual to serve as a Diversity Agent of Change. In this role, student employees support ODP with planning and running events, ongoing marketing/communication plans, and basic center operations including daily cleaning, greeting guests and representing ODP.

Duties and Responsibilities are unique for each role but include:

  • Plan and run 2-6 events per month (which includes menu planning, guest logistics, identifying speakers/presenters, set-up/break-down of space, decorations, etc.) in collaboration with other team members
  • Develop and post content for social media channels as well as create printed marketing/communication materials such emails, announcements, educational materials, informational videos, bulletin boards and other customized marketing ideas, etc.
  • Assist in daily tasks such as cleaning the lounge, making copies, organizing inventory, shopping for supplies, etc.
  • Actively show an interest in advancing the mission of the Office of Diversity Programs
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to work with others from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrate initiative and be able to work independently
  • Work collaboratively with others and be flexible regarding assigned tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate, graduate, or English Language Learning programs at SNHU
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Working knowledge of concepts related to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic computer/technology skills (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, Canva, video/digital imaging, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of social media such as Instagram and TikTok

Learning Outcomes are unique for each role but include:

  • Increased knowledge of event planning
  • Improved public speaking/facilitation skills
  • Increased ability to use and leverage social media
  • Increased knowledge of communications strategies and collaborative skills
  • Increased scope of knowledge about diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Increased customer service skills (phone, email and face-to-face greeting)

Schedule:

  • Various shifts are available and are typically between the hours of 11:00am and 7:00 PM (Monday -Friday) with some weekend shifts required.
  • Each employee’s schedule is developed in tandem with departmental needs and student worker availability.
  • It is expected that all student employees attend weekly staff meetings (currently scheduled on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30).
  • Students are generally scheduled for 8-12 hours per week.
  • This position is in-person only.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
