The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Pat Pantry Program Assistant for The Animal Rescue League in Bedford, NH.

The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire (ARLNH) Pet Food Pantry Program is a growing initiative that serves hundreds of pets and their families every month. It aims to support pet owners who are struggling to feed their pets and help keep animals with their families and out of shelters by providing food and supplies. ARLNH partners with various organizations, including Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County and local food pantries, to make pet food more accessible.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the process of repackaging bulk pet food into bags to be distributed to partner organizations and program participants.
  • Assists in preparing supplies such as labels and materials for volunteer groups.
  • Assists in preparing and labeling pet food packages for delivery to Meals on Wheels program participants twice monthly and Food Pantries once monthly.
  • Sorts donations and ensures the cleanliness and organization of the Pet Food Pantry.
  • May assist with keeping records by noting the pounds of food delivered and distributed to demonstrate the impact of the program.
  • May interact with and provide support to pet owners visiting the on-site pet pantry.
  • Other tasks related to the Pet Food Pantry Program as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
  • Work study part of financial aid package
  • Students with work study may be prioritized
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to engage with pet owners in a compassionate and supportive manner.
  • Ability to lift and carry bags of pet food, up to 40 pounds.
  • Interest in the non-profit sector, animal welfare, and community outreach programs.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, Flexible Set Schedule between 8 am – 5 pm

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
