The opportunity
Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking a student employee as a Front Desk Manager for Kingston, Monadnock, and Tuckerman Halls on campus. Front Desk Managers are students who work towards the accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the Office of Residence Life through providing support and assistance to the hall’s community members and the Front Desk Attendants. This position is open to any SNHU UC student and is not restricted to residents assigned to these halls. Commuter students are also welcome to apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Run monthly staff meetings & complete Front Desk Attendant schedule
- Complete weekly one on ones with RD staff or Office Manager
- Be a point of contact and support for the Front Desk Attendants
- Complete weekly desk hours at Kingston, Tuckerman, and biweekly hours at Monadnock
- Be present, attentive, and accessible to community members at the front desk in the lobby
- Welcome community members into the building and direct them as needed, following building access guidelines
- Answer community members’ questions or direct them to offices/resources where they can find answers
- Build community through passive programming and media content throughout the building; support Res Life staff with administrative tasks as assigned
- Manage communal kitchen supplies and game supplies sign-out and return processes
- Conduct basic organizational tasks in the lobbies (game area, printer/office area, kitchen, fireplace lounge, classroom, and desk itself)
- Submit maintenance requests as needed
- Document any community members’ concerns that arise and share with supervisor
- Connect with Residence Life staff or Public Safety as needed if any emergent, escalated, or disorderly situations occur
- Enforce Residence Life policy
- Support the guest registration process
- Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
- Work study part of financial aid package
- Students with work study may be prioritized
- Policy violations will be reviewed and considered prior to position offers or pursuit of candidacy in the selection process
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applicants who have been an active member of a residential area for at least one semester before starting appointment
- Develop an understanding of community and the ways in which the front desk supports community development.
- Demonstrate effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
