The opportunity

As the Assistant Director for Health Services and Medical Director you will oversee the management and coordination of Health Services at the Wellness Center, which provides integrated medical, mental health, and prevention services to our diverse student population SNHU . You will directly support the Wellness Center's Senior Director in the leadership of the center and serve as the primary supervisor of medical care.

What you'll do:

MEDICAL/NURSING

  • Provide comprehensive and patient centered health care in outpatient university health setting to Southern New Hampshire University students with acute and chronic health care needs in collaboration with Health Services team and other Wellness Center clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and complete health care records and reports in electronic medical record.
  • Order lab tests, x-rays and prescribe medication following clinical need.
  • Perform CLIA waived testing, lab procedures and record findings according to established protocols.
  • Follow University procedures and federal, state, and local regulations regarding health care.
  • Identify and initiate plan of care according to Health Service protocol.
  • Refer to community resources or health care specialists.
  • Provide follow-up and maintain accurate records of student problems.
  • Provide immunization clinics for students.
  • Provide support and outreach for after-hours medical emergencies as necessary.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Provide oversight and management of Health Services staff and of medical care provided at the Wellness Center.
  • Support the Wellness Center Leadership in collaboration with other Administration Staff under the guidance of the Senior Director.
  • Responsible for the compliance of Health Services, in collaboration with the Senior Director, to ensure compliance with Educational Health Center and other relevant center licenses.
  • Participate in the development and approval of all documentation and procedures, standing orders and guidelines pertaining student medical care.
  • Facilitate quality assurance and provide medical direction and consultation to the Health Services staff.
  • Manage the review of health requirement records of incoming students.
  • Manage the inventory of medicine and supplies and identify budget needs specific to the maintenance of Health Services.
  • Serve on University committees, represent the University, attend school and Divisional/Departmental meetings as called, support authorized student functions, and perform other responsibilities as reasonably requested.
  • Prepare end-of-month and year reports and maintain other assessment and evaluation data to help us evaluate the impact of the Wellness Center on student well-being.
  • Help us support health promotion and outreach efforts with community partners across the University.
  • Provide outreach and programming – these activities may require occasional evening or weekend hours.
  • Participate in outside professional activities and maintain relationships with appropriate societies, industries, and agencies to remain current on appropriate medical or nursing innovations relevant to College Health.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in a health care setting, preferably in College Health.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Active State of NH APRN license required or NH APRN license eligible.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations including, but not limited to BIPOC, LGBTQAI+, and individuals with different national origins and immigration histories.
  • 3+ years of supervisory/administrative experience including staff management, mentorship, and license administration.
  • Broad base of relevant clinical knowledge with training in ambulatory care, emergency medical services and health education.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

As a Health Care environment, medical staff is required to perform both administrative and physical activities related to medical care of students such as periods of sitting, occasional lifting, management of medical and testing supplies.

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $91,388.00 - $146,247.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $100,983.00 - $136,624.00.
