The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is currently seeking a student employee to support the Office of External Affairs and Communications (OEAC) with employee communications. The Internal Communications Assistant will assist with inbox management, content planning and content creation including writing/storytelling, content management, proofreading and general communications support.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Content Creation:

  • Write/proofread content for the employee intranet, The Source; the Millyard digital signs; and other channels as needed.
  • Assist with content and communications campaign brainstorming
  • Create and post employee (The Source) polls
  • Post recurring features and events on The Source

Content Management

  • Post stories, announcements and events on The Source.
  • Assist with asset management, i.e. organization within The Source image library and OEAC SharePoint site documents library

Internal Communications Inbox Management

  • Follow up on and respond to and follow up on employee communications inquiries and requests in the Internal Communications inbox.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in classes as part of an SNHU degree program.
  • Preference will be given to candidates pursuing a degree or concentration in Communication, Marketing, Creative Writing, Liberal Arts or a related field.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Strengthen writing, copyediting, and research skills.
  • Gain experience in developing content in creative ways for university channels.
  • Support and learn from a talented communications team about communications strategies and tactics.

Work Hours:

  • The team’s typical office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm ET, with coverage for events on nights and weekends as needed. Hours for this position will not exceed 12 hours per week, and the schedule will be set with the supervisor week to week, based on the needs of the department.
  • Flexibility to complete hours remotely.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
