The opportunity
The Senior Cloud Security Engineer reports to the Director of Information Security Engineering. You will lead the design, implementation, and management of secure cloud infrastructure across our enterprise environments. The Senior Cloud Security Engineer is responsible for two critical functions within the Information Security Management Office. You will guide cloud security design for the University, inclusive of configuration, vulnerability, and code scanning, augmented by automation and monitoring platforms, managing a roadmap of cloud posture improvement. They partner with technology platform owners on the improvement and enhancement of their environments, including control implementation and security policy application.

What You'll do:
- Design and implement security controls using security policies, protocols, and procedures to enhance the security posture of cloud environments.
- Provide cybersecurity subject-matter expertise to teams for cloud environments throughout the project management and technology operations lifecycle
- Administration and monitoring of cloud cybersecurity tools such as Cloud posture management, secure code review, and vulnerability management
- Partner with other departments in IT, DevOps, and other development teams to integrate and automate security best practices into the software development lifecycle and within a CI/CD pipeline.
- Help administer other cybersecurity tools, such as SIEM tool(s), Tenable, Proofpoint, CyberArk (PAM/CIEM). next-gen Firewall/IDS, and SOAR tools,
- Evaluate and plan future enhancements to the configuration, deployment, and operation of the University cloud infrastructure and container technologies
- Lead threat modeling, research, security assessments, and gap analysis of cloud security controls, compliance, and best practices
- Develop documentation and diagrams for security tools, system environments, and cloud operations.
- Evaluate and improve cloud security practices and technologies, and stay current on the latest threats in cloud security
- Provide knowledge, guidance, and training on cloud security practices to other team members
- Design risk-informed solutions in response to our needs
- Help design performance dashboards, reports, and metrics
- Other responsibilities as assigned
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years of Information Technology experience.
- 7+ years of Information and/or Cyber Security experience.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Professional Certification(s): One or more relevant cybersecurity certifications, such as CISM, CISA, CISSP, CEH, GIAC.
- Experience with Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud native tools and architecture.
- Experience using Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM) tools to administer access controls and entitlements in cloud environments.
- Experience with compliance and frameworks, FERPA, PCI-DSS, NIST CSF, OWASP, CIS, MITRE ATT&CK framework.

Compensation
The annual pay range for this position is $100,560.00 - $160,926.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $111,119.00 - $150,338.00.
