Southern New Hampshire is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Communications and Engagement Assistant for our partner organization Reading Partners. The Reading Partners program is a proven, evidence-based national model leveraged to support students who have fallen behind in reading. This position will play a crucial role in helping Reading Partners share compelling stories, engage local communities, and amplify our impact.
Job Responsibilities:
Marketing & Communications (40%)
- Draft, schedule, and publish region-specific social media posts
- Capture and curate photos, videos, and stories (if local to a region)
- Create simple graphics and visuals to support campaigns, newsletters, and events
Development (30%)
- Conduct research on prospective funders and grant opportunities
- Support Salesforce data entry and maintenance related to donor engagement
- Assist with donor stewardship (i.e., thank you notes)
Community Engagement (30%)
- Support tutor orientation and other tutor engagement opportunities, including but not limited to coordinating logistics, communications, and gathering required materials
- Provide backend support in Salesforce for volunteer tracking and communications
Additional strategic support as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in classes as part of a SNHU degree program
- Work study part of financial aid package
- Students with work study may be prioritized
- Interest in nonprofit communications, community engagement, and/or development/fundraising (including prospect research)
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized with consistent follow-through
- Experience with social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
- Strong design skills (on platforms like Canva) would be a plus
- Salesforce experience
Requirements for Remote Work:
- Have reliable connectivity to WiFi and access to a computer or laptop
- Be comfortable using virtual collaboration platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace, etc.) and actively participating in virtual team and project meetings
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain a deeper understanding of cross-functional collaboration within a nonprofit context
- Be exposed to various aspects of community engagement, development/fundraising, and nonprofit marketing and digital communications
Work Schedule:
- 15-20 hours per week
- Anticipated Start Date: October 15, 2025
- Anticipated End Date: May 15, 2025

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
