The opportunity

The Eco Rep Student Supervisor serves as a student leader responsible for coordinating, mentoring, and supporting the oversight of the Office of Sustainability’s Eco Rep Team. This role supports campus sustainability initiatives by fostering engagement, organizing programs, and ensuring consistent communication between Eco Reps and Office of Sustainability’s Pro staff. The Senior Eco Rep acts as a liaison, motivator, and project manager to support the advancement of environmental goals across the institution’s community.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Support the team of Eco Representatives by sitting in on weekly goals with each of the Eco Representatives and the Assistant Director of Programs.
  • Coordinate the facilitation of bimonthly team meetings to plan initiatives and track progress
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and constructive feedback to team members
  • Delegate tasks and ensure equitable workload distribution for any Eco Rep creating and/or facilitating events
  • Ensure the team meetings agenda goes out to the team at least 2 days before the team meeting so team members can update their sections of the agenda

Program Coordination

  • Provide oversight and plan, coordinate, and oversee sustainability programs and campaigns
  • Support the collaborate with campus departments and student organizations on environmental initiatives
  • Ensure timely execution of events, workshops, and outreach efforts
  • Track and report program outcomes and participation metrics

Communication & Liaison Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Eco Reps and sustainability staff or administration
  • Communicate goals, updates, and expectations clearly to team members
  • Support the promotion of sustainability initiatives through campus channels and social media
  • Represent the Eco Rep program at meetings, events, and tabling activities

Training & Development

  • Assist in onboarding and training new Eco Representatives
  • Sit in on Eco Rep candidate interviews
  • Organize skill-building sessions (e.g., leadership, sustainability education, outreach strategies)
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and motivated team environment

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain records of meetings, attendance, and project progress
  • Assist in scheduling events and managing calendars
  • Attend conferences and trainings when able

Qualifications:

  • Current full time student in good academic standing
  • Previous experience as an Eco Representative or in sustainability-related work preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Passion for sustainability, environmental advocacy, and community engagement

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in team leadership or supervision
  • Event planning and project management skills
  • Public speaking and outreach experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups

Time Commitment:

  • Approximately 20 hours per week (adjust based on program needs)
  • Availability for weekly meetings and scheduled events

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
