The opportunity
Job Summary
Southern NH University is seeking student employees to fill the role of Major Ambassadors. Major Ambassadors are upper-class student mentors who can help first-year students experience a relentless welcome to their major. We will be hiring two major ambassadors for certain majors SNHU offers on-campus. The following Majors will be considered: Justice Studies, Education, Game, Business Administration, Psychology, English, Engineering, Biology.
Major Ambassadors will attend events that are unique to the major, will connect with freshmen and will facilitate workshops and sessions dedicated to first-year students. A Major Ambassador’s job is to make sure an incoming student meets the faculty and those who support the field, so students have a constellation of support on campus within their first year.
Please note: You must be invited by a faculty member to participate in this program.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork while working in close collaboration with a Full-time faculty in your major.
- Use leadership and communication skills by creating and promoting events for students in the major.
- Show career and self-development during events meant to welcome students to their field of study (science, humanities).
- Demonstrate inclusion and equity by facilitating workshops prior to registration for new students in the major.
- Other duties, responsibilities or activities may be assigned at any time.
Minimum Qualification
- Enrollment in an Undergraduate On-Campus Day program at SNHU.
- Must be an upper-class student enrolled in a degree program at SNHU
- Highly dependable and flexible.
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role.
- Must have an endorsement from any faculty member in the department where the student wishes to be a major ambassador.

Work Schedule
As a Major Ambassador, you will work an average of 2 hours per week. Some weeks there will be no hours, and if an event is planned, some weeks there will be 5-10 hours. This averages out to 2 hours per week.

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
