This is a fixed-term contract with an end date of 31 December 2026, with the possibility of extension.

This is a hybrid position that requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our office in the Hague, London and New Delhi, India. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position. To be eligible for this position, you must be a resident of the locations listed above.

Your main areas of responsibility will include:

Overseeing FOLU country portfolio in Asia (40%)

• Support the Country Directors in FOLU’s country platforms in the region - currently FOLU China, FOLU Indonesia and FOLU India - to enable the successful delivery of planned activities, the development of strategic thinking and sharpening of impact.

• Be extremely familiar with the country platforms within Asia, understanding their contexts, partners and work programs. This will require regular contact with country teams (on a weekly basis) and frequent travel (at least one visit to each platform a year and ideally two).

• Provide regular structured feedback to country platforms on their progress, identifying risks and proposing mitigatory measures.

• Work to resolve the operational and strategic challenges experienced by the country platforms – helping to problem solve and drive forward delivery.

• Implement the quarterly review performance management process.

• Ensure that country platforms provide complete and succinct narrative and strategic reporting – both for FOLU and donor purposes.

• Work closely with the Grants & Finance Team to ensure timely disbursements, accurate forecasts and the appropriate allocation of resources. This includes ensuring complete reporting of country platform financials as needed.

• Act as ‘award coordinator’ for grants that are predominantly located within FOLU’s platforms in Asia.

Supporting fundraising efforts for the Asia platforms (30%)

• Support the country platforms to fundraise and mobilize resources by (1) reviewing and contributing to concept notes & proposals (2) working with the Global Secretariat’s senior development manager to identify upcoming opportunities and to build donor relationships and (3) working to improve the strategic framing and development of new fundable ideas.

• Support the country platforms to build long-term and deep relationships with existing donors that are mutually beneficial and sustainable.

• Ensure countries are represented in global fundraising activities including the development of coalition-wide proposals and discussions with programmatic donors.

Bridging the global and country portfolios in Asia & Europe (20%)

• Ensure that country platforms are kept informed about the activities and priorities of global teams and vice versa. This includes working closely with the Global Secretariat’s Knowledge Generation, International Engagement, Communications and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Teams.

• Participate in internal and external meetings and workshops to represent the country platforms where necessary – sharing their knowledge and advocating for their needs.

• Promote lesson learning and dissemination by (1) participating in FOLU’s communities of practice and (2) inputting into relevant Global Secretariat products.

Growing the country portfolio (10%)

• Work with colleagues in the Countries & Impact Team to develop a strategy for country expansion – to help up the scale up and expansion of FOLU’s country platforms.

• If requested by FOLU’s Governing Council, identify, scope and develop new country platforms within Asia or Europe. This will involve working closely with FOLU’s leadership team to identify candidate platforms and affiliate platforms.

• If approved, work to establish a new Asia or Europe country platform. This includes scoping visits, identifying possible coalition partners, mobilizing funding and sketching out a possible program of work for the new platform.

You will be based in the World Resources Institute’s offices in either London or the Hague and will interact closely with FOLU’s Core Partners.

Job Qualifications

Master's Degree required (or a Bachelor's degree with two additional years of experience)

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience within government, civil society or the private sector working in a field relevant to food systems transformation.

• Experience of working on relevant issues within an Asian context. This should include work at a national level to drive system change.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Self-motivated, entrepreneurial style with strong track record coordinating complex projects and teams across multiple geographic locations

• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including across academic, public policy and the private sectors

• Strong track record of fundraising from bilateral and/or philanthropic donors.

• Relationship management skills in various cultural contexts

• Ability to help ensure large projects execute on schedule, on budget and in compliance with all policies and standards on donor partners

• Full fluency in written English with excellent writing skills

• Knowledge of relevant Asian languages a plus.

Potential Salary: The UK Salary range is between £54,000 and £68,000 GBP. The Hague salary range is between €63,000 – €79,000 Euros. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
