This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of eight days per month in the office. During the probation period, you will be expected to work in the office at least four days per week. The role is based in our New Delhi office. Applicants must have existing work authorization at the time of application, as WRI is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

About us:

WRI works to improve people’s lives, protect and restore nature, and stabilize the climate. As an independent research organization, we leverage our data, expertise and global reach to influence policy and catalyze change across systems like food, land and water; energy; and cities.

Founded in 1982, our 2,000+ staff work on the ground in more than a dozen focus countries and with partners in over 50 nations.

Job Highlight:

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Workday HCM Analyst to provide work with the Workday HCM Lead within WRI’s Compensation, Benefits and Analytics CoE and support our HR teams across all our country/regional office locations (Africa, Brazil, China, Colombia, Europe, India, Indonesia, Mexico, US) in their Workday journey.

Following WRI’s global transition to Workday in September 2025, this role will play a critical enabling function—supporting the HCM Lead in the ongoing stabilization, enhancement, and adoption of Workday across all country offices and modules.

The role is designed as a hands-on operational and functional support position, ensuring effective system administration, user support, and continuous improvement of Workday HCM processes globally.

You will work closely with the Workday HCM Lead, Global IT, and HR teams across regions to ensure the system is effectively supporting WRI’s people processes and organizational priorities.

Your work will help WRI become the best-run NGO in the world — not just for operational excellence, but to ensure every employee has a great experience and can do their best work in service of our mission.

Reporting to the Workday HCM Lead, you will act as a key support resource in the delivery, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Workday HCM modules.

You will collaborate with the Global IT team and HR stakeholders across all regions and country offices to:

  • Support system configuration and administration with the focus on the modules of Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits and Reports.

  • Deliver day-to-day operational support

  • Enable consistent and effective use of Workday across the organization

This role focuses on execution, user support, and operational excellence, while working under the strategic direction of the HCM Lead.

This role supports users across multiple global time zones; therefore, a degree of flexibility in working hours is expected to ensure effective collaboration and timely support. There is also an expectation to maintain significant overlap with UK working hours to enable coordination with key stakeholders.

What will you do:

Workday Functional Expert (70%)

  • Provide support to the Workday HCM Lead in administering and managing Workday modules including HCM Core, Compensation, Benefits, business process framework and Reporting. Other module support may be added based on expertise and need.

  • Assist in configuring and maintaining business processes, reports, and dashboards in alignment with defined standards.

  • Maintaining, updating, and conducting routine audits.

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established security and governance protocols.

  • Assist in monitoring system performance and identifying opportunities for improvements.

  • Assist in change management and adoption initiatives led by the HCM Lead.

  • Stay informed on Workday updates and support communication of relevant changes to users.

  • Support review of biannual Workday releases. Participate in testing and validation efforts for production releases, executing software unit test plans, assist in creating test scripts and verifying business User Acceptance Testing.

User Support & Capacity Building (30%)

  • Provide day-to-day system support, including troubleshooting issues and resolving user queries.

  • Provide first-line and second-line support to HR users across global offices.

  • Produce and maintain training materials to empower self-service for employees, managers and the wider HR team.

  • Support in additional Workday-related tasks as required.

What will you need:

  • Education: Educational background in human resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Workday HCM certification is highly preferred. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree is accepted.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with Workday HCM configuration and business process frameworks, especially as it relates to the HCM Core and compensation.

  • Experience managing Workday configuration including business processes, reporting, and data loads

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Clear communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools is a plus

  • Languages: Verbal and written proficiency in English.

  • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.
