Position Overview
The Programs and Political Manager plays a key role in shaping and executing the organization’s political data organization and establishing beneficial political partnerships which play a key role in strategic direction and execution This position manages political intelligence, oversees electoral landscape analysis, tracks candidate pipelines, and builds partnerships to ensure the organization is resourcing the right candidates at the right time. They will possess experience and insights into best practices for research, polling and analysis while being able to merge those details into actionable political tactics and messaging. The Political Manager will collect, analyze, and present political and electoral data to guide endorsements, candidate recruitment, programming, and resource allocation.
This role is ideal for someone who is data-driven, politically savvy, and passionate about expanding representation at all levels of government.
Key Responsibilities
Political Landscape Management
Under the guidance of the National Programs and Political Director, monitor local, state, and federal political landscapes, including electoral calendars, emerging opportunities, redistricting impacts, and shifts in political and electoral dynamics.
Produce timely political and electoral memos, briefs, and alerts for Higher Heights Political Action Committee (HH PAC), executive leadership and across the organization.
As needed, and under the National Programs and Political Director’s direction, track legislation, political and electoral trends, and power-building opportunities relevant to Black women voters, elected leaders, candidates and candidates considering running for higher office.
Leadership Pipeline & Support
Lead the management and strategic use of the candidate pipeline database, applying independent judgment to assess, prioritize, and track prospective candidates, current candidates, and alumni in alignment with organizational political strategy. Conduct research on potential candidates’ viability, political environment, and ecosystem of support.
Work across teams to development and implement ongoing engagement with members and stakeholders through virtual and in-person activations, including volunteer opportunities, GOTV efforts, and election-night events, in coordination with cross-departmental teams.
Data & Research Management
Provide strategic leadership for the #BlackWomenRun database, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and cross-system alignment to inform organizational decision-making. Strategic Planning & Cross-Department Support
Collaborate with the Higher Heights’ Communications, Development and Office of the President teams to ensure landscape data informs strategy, messaging, and training.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations, political operatives, party committees, and community stakeholders.
Qualifications
4–6 years of experience in political campaigns, political data/analytics, advocacy organizations, or electoral strategy.
Demonstrated experience with political research, data analysis, or voter file tools (Airtable, etc.).
