Ignitia AB, a high-technology company and social enterprise that uses accurate weather models, is seeking a Senior Science Innovation Engineer to join their team remotely. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and testing new products and services that support the company's mission of improving the lives and livelihoods of small-scale farmers in West Africa. Ignitia AB's proprietary weather model technologies provide daily forecasts via SMS to farmers, improving their water management and crop yields. With a research team comprised of physics and meteorology professionals from esteemed institutions like NASA, the company is poised to continue changing lives through technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and testing of new weather model products and services
• Collaborate with the research team to refine models and create new forecast features
• Design and implement data analysis tools and procedures to improve forecast accuracy
• Communicate complicated technical ideas to other teammates and stakeholders
• Ensure product development deadlines are met through effective project management
• Keep up-to-date with technological advances and continuously contribute to model innovation
• Assist in training and mentoring junior team members

• Master's or Ph.D. in a related field such as meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or physics
• 5+ years of experience in product development or scientific research
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB
• Knowledge of numerical methods, time-series analysis, and machine learning techniques
• Solid understanding of weather and climate patterns in tropical regions
• Strong communication skills and ability to present findings to diverse audiences
• Proven track record of being self-motivated and able to work independently.
