ABOUT US
Indus Action aims to enable over 800 million vulnerable citizens in India to move irreversibly out of extreme poverty by facilitating access to critical government support to which they are entitled. We partner with communities and governments to simplify access to education,livelihoods, healthcare and welfare, using tech and better design to navigate bureaucratic hurdles.
By 2030, we aim to impact 30 million people with adequate social protection. Since 2013, our program innovations have impacted 2 million+ citizens in accessing entitlements across the above workstreams. ROLE BRIEF
Indus Action is seeking a young professional who can contribute to critical aspects of the e-Governance project in Karnataka and support the project lead in driving towards crucial outputs and outcomes. The project involves working with the state government department to strengthen their welfare delivery architecture of assisted tech (i.e. common service centres) and/or direct delivery (integrated portals) to ensure entitlements are seamlessly accessible to citizens. The role may also involve supporting operations in other states as per project requirements.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Project Operations
  • Operations Management: Support the day-to-day operations of projects within designated states, ensuring strict adherence to project terms and scope of work. This includes reviewing and re-designing workflows, auditing govt platforms, data analytics to generate insights, ideating on easing welfare accessing to citizens via assisted-tech.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate with various teams within Indus Action to drive key project outputs and outcomes.
2. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Government Relations: Engage with government officials at multiple levels on specific project aspects. This includes working out of a government office at least three days a week.
  • Community Outreach: Engage with citizens from economically and socially disadvantaged groups across diverse geographical areas. This entails travelling to rural and urban locations across the zone for consultations and data collection.
3. Research & Documentation
  • Research & Analysis: Understand and document key aspects of the welfare delivery process. Support in primary and secondary research activities as part of the project deliverables.
  • Documentation: Support the preparation of collaterals such as pitch decks, policy briefs, blogs, academic articles, and white papers to present research outcomes to stakeholders clearly and engagingly.
3. Monitoring & Evaluation
  • M&E Planning: Contribute to developing and implementing the monitoring and evaluation plan and metrics for projects
  • Data Analysis: Align project metrics with the organisation M&E framework for assessing project outcomes and measuring success against defined indicators.
  • M&E Reporting: Adopt the existing organisational M&E Tools and/or platforms for efficient project reporting.

Requirements

SKILLS & EXPERTISE
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
  • Core Technical Skills: Medium proficiency in Python/JavaScript/ R Programming, full-stack web apps, scalable system design and data analytics (SQL/Advanced Excel/Tableau etc.)
  • Design Skills: UI/UX design proficiency (Figma/Adobe XD/user research) for creating intuitive citizen service interfaces.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting research findings effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment while being self-motivated.
  • Language proficiency: Ability to read and speak Kannada is essential. Working knowledge of Hindi or another South Indian Language will be an added advantage.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE -
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preference will be given to candidates with background of computer science, engineering or data analytics, Master’s degree is a good to have)
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in using programming languages, data analytics, developing web applications etc.
  • Additional experience of working in government agencies or non-profit organisations will be preferred.
