ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The RLO Program Advisor will play a critical role in supporting Inkomoko's mission in strengthening refugee-led organizations through strategic program development, capacity building, and organizational sustainability. This role combines hands-on advisory and facilitation work in three key areas: business development, training, and organizational capacity strengthening. The Advisor will work closely with the Program Manager and other program teams to expand funding opportunities, improve program delivery, and build institutional systems that support long-term impact. The role will also support RLOs to function as implementing partners for Inkomoko’s service delivery.
Responsibilities
Organizational Development & Technical Assistance (70% of time)
- Provide organizational development (OD) technical assistance, including training and individual sessions on topics such as governance, leadership development, systems strengthening, and compliance.
- Support RLOs to improve internal policies, structures, and processes (finance, HR, leadership and governance.)
- In collaboration with the business growth services team coordinate and support business training and advisory to RLOs and enabling RLOs to directly deliver these services to Inkomoko clients and where relevant facilitate investment support.
- Assess organizational capacity gaps and co-create realistic capacity-building plans with RLO leadership.
- Mentor and provide ongoing supervision to ensure RLOs can maintain quality service delivery standards.
- Documentation & Storytelling of RLO Impact (10% of time)
- Work closely with RLOs to document impact stories, case studies, and learning narratives that demonstrate outcomes, innovation, and community impact.
- Support RLOs to collect and articulate qualitative and quantitative evidence of impact.
- Collaborate with Inkomoko’s communications and MEL teams to ensure stories are accurate, ethical, and aligned with donor and advocacy needs.
Performance accountability
- RLOs have improved organizational systems and structures for excellence performance
- RLOs deliver quality services to their clients
- RLOs have access to financing both externally and internally
- RLOs have improved visibility both internally and externally
- RLOs complete an end to end client journey
Advocacy & Ecosystem Engagement (10 % of time)
- Engage and support RLOs to participate meaningfully in advocacy efforts at local, national, and regional levels.
- Coordinate with the advocacy team to co-create advocacy plans with RLOs, engage with policymakers, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in targeted advocacy efforts aimed at creating enabling environments for RLOs to deliver on their mandate, including building partnerships that facilitate service rollout.
- Represent Inkomoko alongside RLO partners in relevant forums, networks, and advocacy spaces when required.
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization Support (10% of time)
- Support RLOs to identify funding opportunities, including grants, partnerships, and social enterprise revenue streams.
- Provide technical assistance in proposal development, donor compliance, and reporting.
- Work with Inkomoko teams to align RLO fundraising efforts with broader partnership and donor strategies.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in business development, organizational development, or partnership management.
- Demonstrated experience working with civil society organizations, community-based organizations, or refugee-led organizations.
- Strong understanding of fundraising, donor engagement, and grant management processes.
- Proven experience in capacity building, coaching, and technical assistance delivery.
Preferred
- Experience working in refugee, displacement, or humanitarian-development nexus contexts.
- Familiarity with advocacy, policy engagement, and ecosystem-building work.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills to support RLOs in operationalizing their models and where applicable Inkomoko’s model.
- Experience managing or coordinating implementing partners.
- Experience in capacity building that enables partner organizations to deliver.
