Who we are

Instiglio’s mission is to unlock the full impact potential of governments to deliver meaningful outcomes for their citizens. We support our partners to integrate results-based approaches into delivery systems and practices, with the goal of enhancing the effectiveness of public and development finance. Our team

A core contributing factor to the influence Instiglio has had thus far includes our collaborative, highly skilled and diverse team. We are a team of 60+ people, representing 15+ nationalities, with offices in Colombia, Kenya, Morocco and the USA. Our team of practitioners has extensive development and government experience, including previous roles in international development banks, national governments, multilateral agencies, INGOs and academia.

Operations at Instiglio are executed by a small and effective team in a dynamic and innovative environment. As Instiglio is implementing its revamped strategy, the global Operations team is evolving to match organizational needs. Anchored within the Operations department, the Finance and Administration team comprises seasoned professionals serving in specialised roles to ensure seamless delivery of business enablement support functions.

How you will make an impact

As part of the Global Finance and Administration team, the Junior Accountant will be based at our Headquarters in Bogotá, Colombia and will report to the Financial Controller. You will play a key role in the Instiglio Bogotá office with a global scope. You will be directly involved in ensuring the group's accounting health by supporting accounting compliance under IFRS and US GAAPs, and analysis activities for the different accounting operations of the organization in Colombia and the USA. You will be responsible for updating financial statements and sustaining accounts. You will also help administer monthly payroll and prepare reports that show the company’s financial statements. You will make sure all financial reports are accurate and timely and analyze data from the previous month's transactions to prepare for future ones.

You will have the opportunity to eventually lead Global Accounting practices once the Finance function implements SAP globally to our Africa offices in Rabat, Morocco and Nairobi, Kenya respectively You will be part of the transformation of Finance processes in Instiglio globally, and grow your scope of responsibility and challenging work while receiving SAP training and continuous mentorship and coaching from more experienced senior staff. This position offers a career path to growth and development within the organization. The key responsibilities of the Global Finance & Operations Analyst will include, but are not limited to:

  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded,
  • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices,
  • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations,
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines,
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc.,
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed,
  • Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly and annually reports, and
  • Assist Controller in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings, and
  • Assist with other accounting projects.

You must be detail-oriented and able to follow Group´s accounting policies and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Additionally, you thrive working in a fast-paced, high-energy and get-it-done environment with a knack for learning. An ideal candidate will have:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.
  • Experience: 3-5 years’ relevant work experience in financial accounting as a qualified accountant.
  • Knowledge and specific experience: General accounting, payroll and tax administration. Experience in finance or related fields in the international development sector or start-up environments working in a global team is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Working knowledge of ERP systems, ideally SAP (training will be provided).
    • Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel and Word) or Google Workspace (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.) Advanced skills in Excel are mandatory.
    • Advanced written and oral communication skills in English (B2).
    • High organizational skills with impeccable attention to details and accurate data entry skills.
    • Teamwork skills with the ability to work autonomously.
    • Strong numerical skills, structured thinking and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work comfortably and communicate effectively in a multinational, culturally diverse, and virtual environment.
    • Willingness to learn and grow.
