Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. We provide evidence-based language, literacy, and life skills programming for preschool children from underserved communities, delivered by a broad network of trained college students and community volunteers. Position Overview

The Regional Coordinator – Temporary is the operational backbone of Jumpstart’s regional efforts, ensuring that our programs, partnerships, and engagement activities run seamlessly. This temporary role is critical to delivering on-the-ground support for Jumpstart’s mission, from coordinating logistics and distributing supplies to managing local events and fostering strong community connections.

Reporting to the Managing Director of Program Implementation, this role will provide essential administrative, logistical, program operations, and engagement support, enabling the team to focus on strategy and relationship-building. This includes executing high-visibility campaigns like Read for the Record, supporting volunteer onboarding and communications, and ensuring regional operations align with national priorities.

This is a hybrid role (in-person and remote) based either in Boston or New York City.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Operations & Logistics

  • Manage logistics for program delivery, coordinating with vendors and partners to ensure timely distribution of materials and supplies to partner sites.
  • Track and maintain regional inventory, overseeing storage, shipping, and supply replenishment.
  • Support compliance and documentation needs, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting for program activities and volunteer hours.
  • Serve as the point person for operational troubleshooting, identifying and resolving logistical challenges quickly.

Event Coordination & Engagement Support

  • Plan and execute regional events such as Read for the Record, volunteer appreciation activities, and partner recognition gatherings.
  • Manage event logistics (venue selection, catering, technology support, and materials preparation) and coordinate with external partners and vendors.
  • Support fundraising activities, including donor stewardship events and local engagement opportunities.
  • Document and communicate program impact by capturing photos, videos, and stories throughout the programming year, partnering with Marketing & Communications to showcase Jumpstart’s transformational work.

Volunteer & Partner Engagement

  • Assist in onboarding and communication for volunteers, providing logistical guidance and ensuring a positive experience throughout their service.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations and universities to schedule meetings, deliver materials, and troubleshoot implementation issues.
  • Collect feedback from volunteers and partners to inform improvements in local engagement strategies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with regional program staff, Advancement, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless execution of local initiatives.
  • Support regional communications efforts, including drafting updates, managing email lists, and coordinating social media content with Marketing.
  • Serve as a liaison between the regional team and national operations staff to align on timelines, budgets, and priorities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience coordinating logistics, events, or operations in a nonprofit or education setting a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to Jumpstart’s mission.

Travel

Approximately 10% local and national travel; must be willing to occasionally travel to partner sites within Jumpstart regions.

Salary

This is a temporary, full-time role for six months from the candidate's start date.

Pay Rate: $26 per hour
