About Last Mile Health
Last Mile Health saves lives in the world's most remote communities. Our vision is a health worker within reach of everyone, everywhere. We partner with governments to recruit, train, equip, and integrate professional community health workers into national health systems, equipping them to deliver quality primary care in rural and remote communities. Founded in Liberia in 2007, we now operate programs in Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Malawi. Our global offices are located in Accra, Ghana, and in the United States. We are looking for mission-driven leaders to join us as we work to ensure no patient is out of reach.
About the Liberia Team
Partnering with the Ministry of Health since 2007, the Liberia team pioneered the community health worker model that serves as a national blueprint. Originating in the remote Konobo District, their work demonstrated that professional community health workers could drastically increase health-seeking behavior and improve health outcomes, increasing skilled birth attendance from 55% to 84%. Led by Brittney Varpilah, the team champions a supervised, salaried, supplied, and skilled workforce to deliver primary care in the country’s hardest-to-reach regions. Beyond delivery, they strengthen health systems through high-level advocacy and policy design while upskilling the workforce through rigorous training and continuous quality improvement.
