How You will Make an Impact
The Substitute Teacher will teach students in a personalized learning environment may be working directly in special education, working in a general education, and with one-on-one with students or small group of students. Provide instruction for scheduled lessons and promote student learning in the absence of the regular teacher. Perform duties in the implementation and support of instructional programs and will collaborate with other Teachers on student progress. This position reports to the Principal or the Designee.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

- Assume duties of the teacher promptly and in accordance with school rules, meet with student and teach assigned educational coursework.
- Implement existing learning plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate.
- Instruct students regarding a variety of classroom topics/courses of instruction.
- Create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Address the various learning styles of students accordingly.
- Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with the school lesson/learning plans.
- Seek assistance from teacher or school administrator if serious or disruptive student behavior problems occur.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain and/or assist in maintaining classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school, state, and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide adequate supervision of students and classroom environment to assure health, welfare, and safety of all
- students.
- Report student injury, accidents, illness, personal injury, and discipline problems to School personnel immediately.
- For long-term substitute assignments, it may be required to develop learning plans; devise, administer, and grade tests and assignments; participate in parent-teacher conferences; and attend school-related functions.
- Consult with other Educators and Student Services team members to support the student’s academic success and well-being.
- Collaborate with school operations team members to ensure student records are compliant with student record procedures.
- Record student progress in the Student Information System and educational applications.
- Adhere to Independent Student Program guidelines.
- Assist with student assessment and testing.
- Participate in school events (i.e. graduation, open house, etc), trainings and meetings.
- Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time.
